Lowell Cross Obituary

Lowell S. Cross, 77, of 1020 Boiling Springs Road, husband of Mary Jo Batson Cross, died Thursday, January 14, 2010, at his residence.

Born in Belington, W.Va., he was the son of the late William McKinley and Ruth Scott Cross.

Mr. Cross was retired from Echols Oil Company and was a member of Riverside Baptist Church where he was involved with the Finance Committee and the Pastor Search Committee. He was a veteran of the United States Army.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three daughters, Brenda Thompson of Greer, Tona Hawkins and husband, David, of Travelers Rest, and Kimberly Snyder and husband, Skip, of Taylors; two sons, Terry Cross and wife, Lee, of Travelers Rest and Kevin Cross and wife, Chrissy, of Taylors; 10 grandchildren, Brian Vaughan, Adrian Hawkins, Devon Hawkins, Jason Snyder, Misty Southern, Matthew Snyder, Sean Cross, Carson Cross, Seth Cross and Cam Cross; two great-grandchildren, Ashley Vaughan and Courtney Vaughan; two great-great-grandchildren on the way; two sisters, Beverly Roach of Axton, Va. and Nancy Anderson of Eden, N.C.; and a brother, Randy Cross of Summerville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Juanita Boling; and a sister, Wilda Donnavant.

Memorials may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice, in care of Spartanburg Regional Foundation, 101 E. Wood Street, Spartanburg, SC 29303.

Visitation will be held Sunday, January 17, 2010, from 12:30 to 2:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown with the funeral service following at 3 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will be in Graceland East Memorial Park.

The family will be at their respective homes.
