Robert (Rob) Woodard Childs

Rob was born to Bob Childs and Marilyn Childs Woodard June 13, 1968 in Conway, AR. He peacefully passed away June 17, 2024 at his home in Brooklyn, NY. Rob attended The Continental School in Green Valley and was a member of the 1987 graduation class of Sahuarita High School. He was a member of the Sahuarita Stingrays Swim Team, played football for the Sahuarita Mustangs and was a member of the Drama Club. He attended Mesa Community College and Pima Community College where he studied theology.
Rob eventually made his way to Telluride, CO where he met his first sound board at the infamous Fly Me to the Moon Saloon. After doing his stint in Telluride and honing his mixing music skills, festivals and skiing he found himself in New York City. He quickly made a name for himself in the music scene as one of the best sound engineers in the city, mixing too many bands and artists to mention at legends clubs such as The Wetlands, The Knitting Factory and The Brooklyn Academy of Music.
Rob is preceded in death by his father, Bob Childs and his constant companion, Bernie, his beloved boxer. He is survived by his mother, Marilyn, of Green Valley; sisters, Kristin Childs Rios (Jose), Portland, OR; and Carrie Gould, Houston, TX; four nephews and one niece.
A Celebration of Life was hosted at the Agua Linda Farm in Amado by Stewart, Laurel and Morgan Loew on Sunday, September 1, 2024. A band from Tucson and former housemates of Rob's in the '80's, Groove Evolution, played and honored Rob through soul filling music surrounded by family and friends. Rob was bigger than life and loved life. He loved all genres of music, he was a self made philosopher and historian of his beloved New York Yankees, anything baseball and the English Premier Football League.
Rob was kind, warm, and always generous with his time and his heart. He was a friend to everyone. He will be missed by all who knew him and were lucky enough to be loved by him.
