A. L. Thompson, age 75 of Lawrenceville passed away, Thursday, May 7, 2009. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, May 11, 2009 in the Lawrenceville Chapel of Tim Stewart Funeral Home with Rev. James Shelton, Dr. Lamar Holley and Rastus Franklin officiating. Burial Gwinnett Memorial Park, Lawrenceville. A life long resident of Gwinnett County, Mr. Thompson was a member of the New Hope Christian Church, Lawrenceville, the Sweetwater Masonic Lodge # 421 F & A M and was retired from Gwinnett County with 28 years of service. He was a bee keeper and enjoyed gardening and hunting. Mr. Thompson is survived by: wife of 54 years: Evelyn Dunagan Thompson, Lawrenceville; Children: Connie & David Pittman, Hoschton; Kathy & Randy Carey, Duluth; Charles & Kaye Thompson, Lawrenceville; Kenneth & Cindy Thompson, Bogart; Cheryl & David O'Kelley, Lawrenceville; Brother & Sister-in-law: Quinton & Shirley Thompson; Brother-in-law: Troy Hodge, all of Lawrenceville; Sisters & Brothers-in-law: Gene & Theron Lester, Ila; Vera Beth & Avery Lester, Jefferson; Patsy Turner, Elijay; Grandchildren: Brandon & Elena Pittman, Stefanie Pittman, Matthew Carey, Taylor Thompson, Shannon Thompson, Amy Thompson, Nicole Thompson; Great Grandchild: Hunter Allen Thompson; Many Nieces & Nephews. In lieu of flowers memorials to the Oakland Community Cemetery, C/O Betty A. Reese, 607 Paden Drive, Lawrenceville, Georgia 30044. Family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 PM, Saturday, May 9, 2009 & Sunday, May 10, 2009 at the Tim Stewart Funeral Home, 300 Simonton Road, Lawrenceville, Georgia 30045. 770-962-3100. Cheryl, I am sorry for your loss. I remember your Dad from the ballgames and also at your house - he never said much but you could always see him in the background with an eye on us. We share so many memories and I didn't want this time to pass without you knowing I am thinking of you...

Evelyn, we were so terribly sorry to hear that A.L. had died. I wish we were able to attend the services on Monday, but unfortunately, we won't be able to. We will see you soon, however.
