Douglas Edward Franklin

Mr. Douglas Edward Franklin, age 55, died Thursday evening at the East Georgia Regional Medical Center following a sudden illness. The Fulton County native lived in Gwinnett County for several years and graduated from South Gwinnett High School in 1971. Following his graduation he moved to Walton County where he lived and worked as a self employed drywall contractor until moving to Statesboro in 2004. Mr. Franklin was a member of the Praise Center in Monroe, GA. He was preceded in death by his father, John Thomas Franklin. Surviving are his wife of 27 years, Paula Lamb Franklin of Statesboro; two daughters, Ginger Martin Ewing of Canton and Emma Lorraine Franklin of Statesboro; a son, Duane Edward Franklin of Athens; two grandchildren, Spencer Howard and Tiffany Ewing, both of Canton; his mother, Audrey Dyer Franklin of Dallas; two brothers, Michael Franklin of Dallas and Norman Franklin of Marysville, CA and two sisters, Jane Williams of Lawrenceville and Christina Kirkland of Marietta. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at Meadows Funeral Home in Monroe, Georgia. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:00pm in the chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with Rev. Russell Davis officiating. Interment will be in the Rockbridge Cemetery in Gwinnett County.
