To the Perrin Family. I was very shocked to hear of "Fatboy's passing, last month. I've read all of the touching testimonials and I can feel thier pain. However, no one was as close to him as the people of hunkytown back in the early 60's. I was quite young then but still remember fatboy and sonnyboy coming over grandma bea's house after memorial day parades, and everybody made thier rounds from there to miss catherines. He will be gladly missed by the Arnett Family. And our thought's and prayers are with you all. Thank's "Fatboy". Reggie Arnett Indianapolis Indiana.

Dane,

I was sorry to read that FatBoy passed away. Your uncle was an awesome man. I saw him every Saturday at Goldman Park for years back in the 70's when he played ball for the Barron's. He always made time to pass softball with me before or after a game and as a child I looked forward to seeing him at the ball park. He will be remembered by every life he touched!

Dane & family,

Fat Boy played softball for the Barron's back in the 70's against my father who played for the Midd. Dental Group. Every chance I had to run up and talk to him he always had time to pass softball with me and he always put a smile on my face. Fat Boy was a wonderful man.

Big "D" and his family,

Holly and I send you are thoughts and prayers in this very troubled time. D you were more than a friend and fellow coach you were a loved part of my family, you were there for me when we lost loved ones . I still remember you coming into my hospital room and telling me to get out of bed and on my feet. When somebody asked me what you coached for me, after I thought a while I told them you coached people, you were the bridge that linked us to the kids and made them understand when we pushed them that we still loved them and only wanted them to be the best they could be. Brother you touched and made an impact on so many lives including mine that I know thats what God sent you here for. You will never be forgotten and always missed. I not only lost a great Friend but I also lost a brother. Big "D" I love you. Big "J"

To the Perrin Family: Our hearts are deeply saddened by the loss of such a great friend. "Coach Perrin" was such a great source of inspiration and stability for our boys during the transitional stages of our new district. Most of all, he showered all those boys with love and compassion. Even after they had graduated, you would see him out and he'd say "how are my boys" and you knew he genuinely meant it. He loved them and they loved him. Truly an angel walked among us and we will miss him greatly!

I was shocked when I heard that Coach Perrin had passed. He was a wonderful person who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone. When my brother passed away at such a young age he was there to comfort me. Ill never forget the many memories I have of him coaching me at wrestling practice and matches. We would always pick on him and he was always ready to fire it right back at us. Thanks for always being there for me and the rest of the guys.

I will never forget the fun and crazy times I had with my friend Derrick “Fat Boy”. He was my wrestling coach who always stood up for his boys no matter what. I returned a few years later after graduation and became assistant wrestling coach for Coach Perrin.

The things that impressed me the most about Derrick was no matter where we went, from Dayton to Cincinnati, there was always some one who knew him. The people were always happy to see him; he could put a smile on anybodies face.

I truly miss Derrick, The Fat Boy, he was great friend

I met Derrick in 1977 when we the old Norris music was turned into a place called Sundays (Young life)we had such a great time there and then had the pleasure or (misery) to go to Colorado with him. One night we all got up and tied him to the bed he was yelling untie me or I’m going to kick some butt we was to scared to untie him in fear we couldn’t get away. Derrick my friend you have given so much of your life to kids and people.( you just didn’t want to grow up) Take care and see you on the golden streets (playing kickball With love Brian

April 19, 2006

When news of Coach Perrin's death reached our family, we were deeply saddened. He was great friend of the family, who truly made a deep impact on both myself and my son. Perrin was the kind of man that you wish the world had more of. No matter what kind of day you where having, he had the gift to uplift you and make everything seem fine. Even when he was not around, when you think of Derrick Perrin, you can not help but smile when you think of him. While it is hard to deal with the fact that he has gone to a better place, there is still a little bit of him inside everyone who met him. If we can at all be a fraction of the person that Perrin was, then this world will be a much better place. Thank you Derrick Perrin, for all you have given to so many different lives, and the special friendships that you formed with so many people.

To The Family,

I was known as "Fatboy #2" and lockered next to fatboy for probably 15 years. We both worked at the caster, only I was in maintenance and not production. I also new fatboy when he worked at the scrap yard. I know he was one of the best friends I have ever had. I can still laugh when I remember someone walking into the locker room and yellin fatboy. We both replied. If they said something smart we told them they would have't to face the both of us. I can honestly say that I will never forget him and neither will a lot of others. My prayers are with you.
