Edward Harpring Jr.

1930 - 2017

HARPRING, Jr., Edward F. 86, of Middletown, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2017, at Atrium Medical Center. He was born in Middletown on November 10, 1930 to parents Edward Sr. and Elizabeth (Pulliam) Harpring. Ed graduated from Hamilton Catholic High School and then attended The Ohio State University. He married Marilyn Weik in Hamilton on September 24, 1955 at St. Veronica Church. Ed worked for Armco/AK Steel for 42 years, retiring in November 1992. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict 1951 - 1954. Ed was a member of Holy Family Parish and volunteered many hours there as well as with St. Vincent dePaul Society. He was a member Knights of Columbus John Paul II Council #1610 and 4th Degree Monsignor McNary Assembly #2299. Ed was also involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters and Habitat for Humanity. Mr. Harpring is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marilyn Harpring; sons, John (Kim) Harpring, Matthew (Sarah) Harpring & Mark (Shelly) Harpring; daughters, Andrea (Scott) Campbell, Angie (Jeff) Riley & Laurie (Michael) Mitchell; 20 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sister, Liddy Fox and many nieces, nephews & friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Myra Olinger, Margaret Aigeltinger, Helen Harpring, James Harpring & Alice Horn. Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at 11:00 am at Holy Family Parish - Holy Trinity Church, 201 Clark Street, Middletown with Father John Civille officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 - 11:00 am at the church. Inurnment at Dayton National Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.
