George Stricker Obituary

Family-Placed Obituary

STRICKER, George R. Age 91 of Hamilton, died Friday July 22, 2005 in Hospice of Cincinnati, Blue Ash. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio, on October 26, 1913, the son of Harry and Catherine (Wellinghoff) Stricker and was a graduate of Hamilton High School. On September 5, 1936, in St. Stephen Church, Hamilton, he married Margaret E. Corner, a double wedding ceremony with Cletus and Alberta (Pater) Stricker, and Marge preceded him in death on March 5, 2001. Upon graduation from High School, George worked in the lab at Ford Motor Co. He then worked at Weik's and Omar's Bakeries. After 20 years in sales and personnel work, he left Omar's to become a sales representative at Southwestern Ohio Steel. He retired from Southwestern Ohio Steel in 1982, as vice president of sales, after 25 years service. He was a member of St. Ann Church, was an usher for over 50 years, was a member of the PAC, and the Circle of St. Raphael Social Service Center. Survivors include a daughter, Susan and husband Fred Brandel, of Fairfield; four grandchildren, David (Maureen) Brandel, Karen (Thomas) Kitchen, both of Cincinnati, Katie Stricker, of Florida, and Patrick Stricker, of Cincinnati and their mother Julaine Stricker; five great grandchildren, Mark, Elizabeth, and Danny Brandel, Elise and Annie Kitchen; a brother Robert (Winnie) Stricker, of Hamilton; a sister-in-law, Alberta Stricker, of Hamilton; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides his wife, he was also preceded in death by a son, Don Stricker; two brothers, Cletus and Frederick Stricker. Reflecting on George's life, his wife Marge often said, "He was a kind and friendly person who left everyone he met with a smile on their face". Everyone who knew him seemed to like him. A devoted family man, his main priorities were his family, and his faith. His children, grandchildren and great grandchildren looked to George for advice and guidance. In their memory, he will be held with highest admiration and love. His family would like to thank the staff of Cottingham retirement Home, Mercy Hospital of Fairfield, and Hospice of Cincinnati, for the compassionate care they provided to George. Prayers will be offered at 11:30AM Monday, August 1, 2005 in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 12noon, in St. Ann Church. Visitation will be from 9-11:30AM Monday in the funeral Home. Entombment will be in St. Stephen Mausoleum. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Cincinnati or the American Cancer Society.

Dear Stricker Family. I just read about the death of George. My parents (Louie and Rose Fritsch) were great friends of George and Marge over their younger years, I always remember George as a kind, humorous man, always fun to be around. My parents have both passed away, may they meet again in the beauty of Our Heavenly Father surrounded by many dear friends. God Bless you in your time of sorrow.

We have lost a "dear friend" whom we loved very much. He was one of the most wonderful men I have ever known. I am very lucky to have grown up with him as our neighbor. He will be deeply missed.

Mom is taking this pretty bad; they were really close friends.

Dear Susan,

I want to extend my sympathy to you in the loss of your father. I lost connections with you after leaving Wilmers but think of you often.

After reading about your father and what a wonderful person he was I understand what made you such a wonderful person.
