Dear Lynne, Cindy, Mr. & Mrs. Roll...
I was deeply saddened to hear of Mike's death. I have such fond memories of hanging out with Mike & Lynne at Talawanda. Mike was kind, smart, funny (quite a prankster), and yet, so respectful. I always admired his calm demeanor and leadership skills. I consider myself lucky to have crossed paths with this great guy!
Please know that I am keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.
With deep sympathy and kind regards...

Bev, Kent, Cindy, Beth, Kelly, Lynne,

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Please know that love and prayers are with you all, and I cherish the childhood years spent as an extra member of your family.

With love,

August 22, 2010

Dear Lynne and the Roll families:

I am deeply saddened to hear of Mike’s death. I hope that in this difficult time that your memories of Mike are helping to ease the pain of your loss. Fond memories of growing up with Mike in Oxford are flooding back to me. Memories of McGuffey, Talawanda, Boy Scouts, Philmont, the Blue Ford pick up, and Knock-out basketball games late into the night on Glenview Drive. I still do not know how Mike’s dad so consistently beat us neighborhood kids at that game, “sending” our balls down the steep hill to the creek below. Memories of track and basketball at McGuffey (beating Stewart both years at basketball) and of football at Talawanda (winning the MML championship in football all four years, but never beating Badin). Mike was both a natural athlete and a natural leader, that we all looked up to. He is a cherished friend of my youth. We are all better for having the chance to know him and to grow up with him.

Sincerely,

Chris Ingersoll, Columbia Missouri

How shocked and saddened I am, and yet how blessed I feel to have known Mike throughout our school years. He will always be cherished in my memory as one of the absolute BEST of us. Despite this tragedy, life is good and the Roll family will endure.

My heartfelt condolences to Bev and Kent, and to Lynne, and Mike's sisters. I am literally looking out my window and seeing the house on Glenview Drive right now, and remembering the basketball games, and Philmont, and birthday parties, and so many other happy times. I'll keep those thoughts alive, and that will console me as I pray your memories will comfort you.

Most sincerely,

Gail Stephenoff
