Glenn Rhoades Obituary

Glenn Martin Rhoades, III passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, with his family by his side, at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond, Louisiana, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born on Sunday, April 27, 1952, to Glenn A. and Jean Rhoades, in Lockport, NY and resided in Hammond, LA.

Glenn was a brilliant metallurgist, serving and bestowing his depth of knowledge in the foundry industry for 50 years. He cared deeply for his employees and business colleagues and treasured each of those relationships. He was a gracious host who could spend hours laughing and engaging in conversation. He loved a savory meal with an even better glass of wine or scotch. He continuously demonstrated a joy for life and an enthusiasm to share it with those around him.

Glenn shared that infectious happiness with his wife of 17 years, his family, and friends. He was a "do-er". There was always a home project or new proposal that he was eager to learn about and complete. His yard was meticulously kept, and he enjoyed spending time relishing in the scenery. Glenn was fiercely loyal with an unwavering commitment to the highest standards in everything he did. He always gave his best, in his personal and professional life, and expected your best in return. He had very high expectations, and would do anything to ensure you were successful, as well.

Glenn is survived by his adoring family: his loving wife, Juliana "Julie" K. Rhoades; children, Glenn Martin "Ryan" Rhoades, IV (Jeanne Nicholson), Jennifer Rhoades (Shelby) Byrd, and Holly Rhoades (Joby) Johnson; stepchildren, Arthur (Jennifer) Williamson and Amy Karpan (Tom Strazza); siblings, Cheryl (Ron) Moyer and Scott (Terri) Rhoades; grandchildren, Glenn Martin "Cody" Rhoades, V, Emily Byrd, Collin (Rosemary) Jerkins, Sydnee Jerkins, Gavin Jerkins, Chris (Elizabeth) Minchew, and Destiny (Matt) Johnson; and great-grandchildren, Hazel and Lucas. Also survived by nieces, Elizabeth and Megan, and nephews, Brandon, Brent, Russ, and Ben.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn A. "Bud" Rhoades and Jean Olear Rhoades.

Glenn's wife and children are extremely grateful for the compassionate care he received in his final days by two very special nurses at North Oaks Hospital, Shelby and Thomas.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Glenn's Life on Saturday, September 3, 2022, in the chapel of LN Hughes Funeral Services, 21400 South I-12 Service Road, Ponchatoula, Louisiana at 11:00 am.
