Sylvia was born on October 26th, 1951 to Laura Mae and Andrew (Buddy) Peters in Hammond, Louisiana. She married the love of her life, Eugene Harper, on September 22nd, 1968 during his time at Camp Lejune in North Carolina. They later moved back to Hammond, Louisiana where they shared an undying love together for almost 50 years and built a beautiful life.
Sylvia was best known professionally for her career in Early Childhood. She and her family later purchased Just Kiddin Around where she served as the director and the "Maw Maw" to many many children over the years. Even after her retirement, she continued her passion by serving as a member of the Ready Start Early Childhood Program for the Tangipahoa Parish School System where she continued her work as an observer and a coach for many daycare centers in our area.
When she wasn't working, Sylvia spent many of her years traveling with her best friends, Martha and Nick Battaglia, when her husband was alive. They loved the mountains and seeing the beautiful bluebonnets of Texas.
Sylvia loved her home. She built a home where she was surrounded by family and where she had the privilege of seeing her grandkids grow up. They visited her almost everyday. She spent most of her days at home outside in her garden. She also loved riding around the neighborhood with her grandchildren and feeding the horses.
