Edna and her husband, Fran, were very dear friends of my parents, Walter and Pearl Elmer. My mother met Edna after she and her sisters moved in down the street from my mom and her folks in Inglewood. Having met their future husbands after WWll through the Ingleaires, they and others formed a life-long friendship. In addition to the Ingleaires, my parents enjoyed the Dominos Square Dancing Club with Fran and Edna, as well as regular card games - taking turns hosting at each other's homes.
Growing up around the corner from the Rynda family in Hawthorne, I got to know Fran and Edna quite well and always enjoyed seeing them. I remember Edna giving me a permanent in her kitchen when I was a child. As an adult, they thoughtfully would call me on my birthday, Fran and I having shared the same birthday - December 21st, and we would share greetings. It's comforting to know they are together again in Heaven.

My dear Aunt Edna was also my godmother. I remember her each time I see all the beautiful crochet items I have in my house. She was frequently the hostess of our family Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. She had a wonderful outlook on life and I always think of her as my second mother. She frequently babysat for me when my parents were away for a day and always tucked me in with a kiss, if I stayed over. She also sewed for my dolls! When my mother became ill with dementia, my dear aunt would call once or twice a week to talk to her sister and always was so supportive of me. I miss her!
