Mrs. Ewalt
Was my third grade teacher in the early 70’s. She had a reputation of being a “mean” teacher and I was a little afraid to go into her classroom. What I found was she was one of the kindest people I knew. She gave me a nickname that she would use when ever she would see me. It didn’t matter to her if I was a grown woman.
Everyone in Kettleman knew how much she loved cats. Sometimes this was the cause of her having so many cats. I remember one time she said to me “ I wont take any cat that people bring to me but if a stray shows up on my door I wont turn it away” I asked her how do you find so many strays.? She said “ oh I watch people just put them over my fence then they stray into my yard” and she laughed and her blue eyes twinkled.
When I was 15 she gave be a beautiful hand painted porcelain heart shaped jewelry keeper, I was in awe that she took such care to paint the tiny fine details for me, something I will always treasure.
The thought of her being gone makes me sad. So in my mind she will always be in her little house in Kettleman City enjoying her cats and her blue eyes sparkling.
My condolences to all those who loved her.. But weren’t we lucky we knew her.

My condolences to Jacque and the rest of the family. I had the pleasure of meeting Joy as a Home Health Patient a couple of years ago. Also I remember Ted fondly. Joy's kitties will surely miss her

I love the pictures in the FPA newsletter of Joy demonstrating pen work. She has always been a special friend to my mother, Ann Duggins, and myself. I have missed her all ready; but know she is happier now and out of pain. She has always worked hard for Fresno Porcelain Artists and has been President in the past.
