Suzanne Marie Forsythe, 73, of Clayton passed away at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2025 at Mt. Sterling Health and Rehabilitation Center after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born September 27, 1951 in Quincy, the daughter of Elmer and Betty Wiemelt Schreacke. She married Dennis Forsythe on July 4, 1970 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Camp Point. He survives.
She is also survived by three sons, Brian (Erika) Forsythe of Mequon, WI, Brent Forsythe of Camp Point, and Brad Forsythe of Pontiac; a daughter, Rebecca (Ryan Kleinik) Forsythe of Troy; and two grandchildren, Lauren and Garrett Forsythe. She is also survived by a brother, Paul (Terri) Schreacke of Quincy; two sisters, Vickie (Roger) Wilson of Clayton, and Kristy (Mike) Oster of Robertsville, MO; and many nieces and nephews.
Suzanne is preceded in death by her parents.
Suzanne was a 1969 graduate of Central High School. She also graduated from Quincy Beauty Academy. She was the owner and operator of Clayton Beauty Hut for more than 50 years until her retirement earlier this year. She was also an Avon representative in Clayton for nearly 40 years. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Mt. Sterling.
She loved attending flea markets and yard sales, never missing an opportunity for a bargain. She had numerous collections and loved to cook. She was always willing to help those in the community, always ready with a hot meal and a supportive ear. Suzanne's greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 14, 2025 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mt. Sterling. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt Sterling with a Celebration of Life following the visitation at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow the Mass at Hersman Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Quincy Catholic Charities, American Cancer Society or Blessing Foundation for Hospice.
