David Thompson Obituary

HARLAN — David Wayne Thompson, 58, of Harlan, went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 11, 2017 in Louisville.

Besides being a retired coal miner, he had also worked in the lumber business for several yeas prior to his work in the coal mines. He also enjoyed several years as a drummer/musician in various Harlan County bands, in keeping with his great love of music. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his Mother, Mary Lynn Bruce Thompson; His Maternal Grandparents Alfred and Flora Bruce; His Paternal Grandparents Earl and Effie Thompson.

David is survived by his Father, Jack Thompson Sr. of Harlan; One Sister Gloria Denisa Thompson of Richwood, Missouri; One Brother Jack Thompson Jr. of Harlan; Four Daughters, Sheena Denisa Thompson of Lexington, Shasta Lynn Thompson of Harlan, Jodi Marie Thompson-Miller and Husband Zack Miller of Jeffersonville, Indiana and Mary Lindsey Thompson and Partner Bobby Huff of Harlan; Seven Grandchildren, Kamryn Stocker, Ryane Peak, Zackary ( Zacky-Boy) Peak, all of Lexington; Alexandria (Ally) Linville and Jagger Cobain McClure both of Harlan; Jacob Miller of Jeffersonville, Indiana; Braxton Huff of Harlan; A special Niece and Nephew who were like his own children, Megan Thompson and Jacob Thompson; Special Friend and Caregiver, Scott McCoy of Louisville; Special Friend, Edna McCoy; A Special Family Friend, Patricia Russel of Richwood, Missouri and His two Dogs, Gizmo and Christina. He was greatly loved and will be sadly missed by all.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 14, 2017 from 5PM to 8PM in the chapel of Mount Pleasant Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 15, 2017 at 1 PM also in the chapel with Reverend Russell Gilbert officiating.

Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in Keith, KY. Paul Nolan, Charlie Peak, Zack Miller, Bobby Huff, Earl (Butch) Smith, and Phillip Carr will serve as Pallbearers.

Mount Pleasant Funeral Home is honored to serve the Family of Mr. Thompson.
