Garry Vincent Smith

1961 - 2024

Garry Vincent Smith died at his home in Wesley, Arkansas on June 21,2024 at the age of 62. He had quietly and courageously battled Leukemia for more than 20 years, and after a rapid decline in health, he is finally at peace.

Garry was born in Bentonville on December 3rd, 1961 and graduated from Springdale High in 1980. He first became a father in '81, and the boys came later, in '01 and '02.

As a young man, Garry loved to rodeo and he was one of the few guys who competed at both ends of the arena. He was a calf and team roper, but also competed in bareback riding.

He was talented at leather tooling, could shoe a horse, was a licensed plumber, occasionally canned a pretty good homemade dip - and even played a little guitar. You could always count on him to have some beef jerky or sunflower seeds on hand.

In more recent years, he loved to trade at the local sale barns, tend to his animals, and run the backroads on an ATV while his beloved dog Rosie sat in his lap. He cherished the time he spent with his boys, and he and Karen enjoyed many weekend road trips just to explore another little corner of our country.

If idle hands are the devil's workshop, Garry was a saint.

Garry was preceded in death by his daughter Courtnie, and his mother Carla. He is survived by his wife Karen, his two boys Nick and Garrett, his father Royce, his siblings Shannon, Rick and Mark, and a beloved group of cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family.

A private memorial service will be held at Astounding Grace Church, and in honor of Garry's final wishes, his ashes will be scattered in the open field near his pond.
