Albert Mortensen Obituary
Albert C. Mortensen passed away peacefully on March 29, 2016. He was loved and will be very missed by his brothers and sisters, in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. All arrangements are private and under the direction of Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Ave, Newington, CT 06111.

Dear Mortensen Family......I remember Al well. We were together on the Basketball Boosters in the '80,s and he was just a great help with our Holiday Tournaments. Also a great coach for my son Brian. He will be missed by all. May God bless him.

My condolences to hear about Al's passing. As an adult, I can now really appreciate all his time he volunteered to coach LL and the Newington Boys Travel Basketball teams back when I was a kid in the 80's. Many great memories I have back then. I hope he rests in peace now.

To the Mortensen Family: we have many memories of Al through the years, at Corvette meets, picnic's,at his ice cream shoppe in Cromwell, and many stops at Morensen's Dairy and plenty of house visits to look at his vette if it didn't start. He was truly a good friend and we will miss him dearly. Al just visited us last week with his two dog buddies..shared conversation, coffee and.

I am saddened to hear of Al's passing. As kid growing up in Newington, "Short Mort" as we called him was nothing to me but a friend and mentor. During difficult times in my childhood he offered empathy and guidance, and encouraged me to find my outlet through academics and athletics. He was a true gentle man. I hope he is in peace, and free of any pain he endured in life. My condolences to his friends and family. I wish you all well.
