I am so sorry to find this. I attended GenRad School there in Mass with Art back in the late 80s/early 90s. He and I hit it off and hang out some while we were in the classes. We had a lot of fun picking on the teacher. Art was a sharp guy. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Good times exploring

Art was an active member in our hiking meet up, Connecticut Outdoor Adventurers. I would plan a hike and Art would lead it. Without him I would still be lost somewhere in Massachusetts. Many memories of hiking with Art Francie and Amanda in wind sleet snow cold rain or shine. Art knew every trail on every mountain as if they were etched on the palm of his hand and all the sweet spots of the best views. Remembering one hike... when how much farther' the spot' was just 25 more feet', for the next half hour lol! We were freezing and hungry and Amanda shared one of her gloves with me because it was freezing and sleeting on the mountain. Even leaves began to look like chocolate chip cookies! Fun times with Art hiking.
Nickname Iron Man' because of his 100 miles plus bike rides crazy long hikes and some times both in the same day. Me Amanda and Francie nicknamed ourselves Arts Angels' because we hiked with Art A LOT. Art was kind gentle very intelligent and on the quiet side but me Francie and Amanda wouldn't allow it. No one could be quiet around us three LOL not even Art. More recently Art bought and lived alone on his boat. He sailed and chartered it all up and down the East Coast. Sometimes I would get a text that he was in the Florida Keys or North Carolina. Sometimes I would get a picture of a muffin in front of an amazing view out west somewhere in one of the national state parks from some remote place that he had spent the last week biking or hiking to LOL. My most common question in the last year or so was - where in the world is Art? Art was always full of great advice and intelligence as well as compassion and support. And he always had a good piece of advice on business holistic health and/or food alternatives and the best podcasts to listen to about just about everything. Rest in peace, my friend, you will be missed. My sincere condolences to family and friends of Art.

We knew Art through our daughters friendship. Art was always friendly and helpful. His passing is tragic and he will be missed.

When you hear news like this relative to the old neighborhood it hits home. I recall Art always ready to help whether it be fixing my flat bicycle tire, installing my car stereo before i electrocuted myself or even help shovel my driveway. In our early teens it was the Hartford Whalers or CSN&Y preceded by a round of Genny Cremes (Thanks Town Line!!). I recall his utmost patience as his brother drove us over Avon mountain in his VW bugfirst time around in a standard for Phil and I can still hear those gears grinding. Hot summer days at Gardner Lake, Ski trips and paintball tournaments still make me a bit nostalgic. The old neighborhood on Skyline Drive carried a sense of innocence back in the day and we lost a piece of that with Art's passing. Condolences to the extended family and if he can hear me ....Say now Art.

So sorry to hear of Art's passing. I'll always remember all the adventures Art, Phil and I took. The bike trip from Salt Lake City to Denver and the hiking in Estes Park was a blast. The hikes in Vermont and New Hampshire. The ski trips. Art loved doing that stuff and he planned most of our trips and I was always appreciative of that. Sounds like he was still doing that stuff. Thoughts and prayers to the family on your loss.
