Augustino Aiello Obituary

On Wednesday, October 18, 2017, surrounded by his loving family, Augustino T. "Gus" Aiello, left the love of his life and best friend and caregiver, Millie or as he lovingly called her "Lit." He fought a long and hard battle with cancer always with his bride by his side, and now goes on to join his mom and dad, Frank and Thomasina (Mancuso) Aiello. Gus was born in Hartford on November 26, 1938 and lived in East Hartford for 52 years. Gus loved his life and country and served proudly in the U.S. Army. He was employed by Food Mart, Waldbaums and A&P for 43 years and was very proud of his service to the company. He was a lifetime member of the Andover Sportsmen's Club. He and Millie's lifetime together began as children at the age of 14 and they shared a long and caring marriage for 60 years. Gus will be forever missed by his loving wife Millie and his two children, Rose Marie Aiello Gianni and husband Vinnie and Christopher Aiello and wife Amy. He was a special Papa to his grandchildren, Jessica Carroll and husband Keith, Vincent Gianni, Nicholas Gianni, Tucker Aiello and Isabelle Aiello. He also leaves his precious great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Summer Rose and Chase Carroll. Gus is also survived by four sisters, Mary, Rosie, Lena and Tina and their spouses, as well as many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center, especially Dr. Timothy Hong and his staff, in particular Angela, Sheila and Arline. A Memorial Mass celebrating Gus's life will be held on Thursday October 26th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Christopher Church Campus of Saint Edmund Campion Parish, 538 Brewer St., East Hartford. Burial with military honors will follow in the family plot at Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. As per Gus's wishes, there will be no calling hours. Donations in Gus's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142. The D'Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with funeral arrangements. To share a memory of Gus with his family, please visit www.desopo.com.

Millie and Family of my friend Gus, I have known Gus in excess of 70 years and I am proud to call him a friend. We lost touch for many years but about 16 years ago we reconnected and since then we have taken road trips together, a European cruise, met in Washington D.C., Branson, Mo., New Orleans and several gatherings in Las Vegas. Although we lived hundreds of miles apart I always felt that he lived next door. We celebrated together our Golden anniversaries together and we live in Henderson ,Nv. Betty and I are so glad that we saw Gus and Millie this past Sept. at their home we enjoyed wine (naturally) and Cheese together. Millie you have a lot of fond memories keep those close to your heart. I also have millions of fond memories that I will cherish so Rest in Peace my friend until we meet again. Bobby
