David S. Cleaver

David S. Cleaver, a resident of Mystic, CT, died Sept 13, 2022 from complications related to Parkinson's disease. He was 80 years old. David was a former resident of Hartford, where he worked for the Connecticut State Dept. of Education as the coordinator of statistical information systems. He studied economics at Oberlin College, for his bachelor's degree. David went on to earn master's and doctoral degrees in quantitative economics and econometrics at the Univ. of Illinois. During this time, he also studied as a Fulbright exchange student in Denmark. Born in New Haven, he attended Hamden public schools. Before moving to Hartford, he taught quantitative methods courses to business students at the Univ. of New Haven, which led his co-authoring of a Management Science textbook. He enjoyed outdoor recreational activities, especially sailing. Unmarried, David is survived by his brother, Merritt, of Kennett Square, PA; niece Bonnie, of Highlands Ranch, CO; and nephew William, of Arlington, TX.
