My dearest David this prayer is for you:
Lord, the death of my loved one has hit me hard. Ours was a relationship built slowly, over years of shared experiences. A friendship of that depth is beyond value, and I find memories of my loved one in many places. This death has made me aware of my own mortality and has challenged my faith. Yet, I hope in You. Your power over death and the rewards of Your promised kingdom are the only consolations I can find at this difficult time. Keep my faith and the faith of all who cared for my loved one strong. Let us always be a source of support and comfort to one another. Amen. Sometimes we decide to carry and show our faith differently and I know you know what I mean. I believe that you have given me so many signs and for that I thank you. You are thought of today and always. Love, your cousin Chrissie.

It's still difficult, after 2 years, to realize that you are no longer with us only in spirit. But, today I thought would be a day to celebrate your life, because I know you wouldn't want me to be so sad. I'll be thinking about you tonight and the life you had with us. To My Cousin David -- I haven't forgotten all of our memories we shared. I can't believe it's been 8 months; sometimes I still feel like I heard the news yesterday. I know you wouldn't want me to be sad; but instead just want me to remember all of the fun times we had and to live everyday to the fullest...like you did. There hasn't been a day that's gone by that I haven't thought about you; the person you were; your wonderful soul and the love for your family you had. Your spirit will be kept alive by the many people you touched along your way. You will always have a special place in my heart. These past six months have been difficult, but I'm trying to cope with your loss. I do feel like there are some days that go by that you are giving me little signs to show me you are okay...and believe me I need those signs...because they make me smile & think of you. I know that you would tell me to live my life to the fullest like you did, but I want everyone to know that I haven't forgotten how special you are and how thankful I am that I was able to get to know you better in the last few years of your life. Although I never knew David his life has touched mine through Christine. She is a special woman who I know will somehow carry his life to others, like me, who he never met but has greatly impacted. The "Cricket Story" was so touching.... Christine, thank you for sharing.

Though I haven't seen David in many years, I will always cherish his free spirit -- a spirit that was not limited by expectations or constraints. A spirit that was always accepting, open, and filled with pure joy.
Though his life on earth seemed short by most standards, his amazing spirit remains for his family and friends -- while he moves to the next stage of his being.

Some of us live our whole lives and never learn to shine as brightly and beautifully as you did in so short a period of time. With your sparkling eyes, your mischievous smile, your fun-loving nature and your enormous heart, you were a glowing example of what it truly meant to live.
