David Earley Obituary

EARLEY, David S. David S. Earley, 57, of S. Brooksvale Rd., Cheshire, passed away Friday (July 13, 2007) at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was the husband of Lucy Vignola Earley. Mr. Earley was born March 1, 1950 in Washington, D.C. the son of Fred Trudeau Earley and the late Fran-E Bess Waltman Earley. He was an Assistant Director of Finance for Yale New Haven Health Services. Mr. Earley had obtained two Masters degrees initially earning a Masters in Divinity from Yale University Divinity School and a Masters in Finance from the University of New Haven. He was a very active member of the Cheshire United Methodist Church where he served on the nominating Committee; Pastor Parish; served as a teacher, lector and was a certified Lay speaker. He was active in politics serving on the Cheshire Democratic Town Committee. Was one of the founding members of the Cheshire Interfaith Housing committee serving as their first Chairperson. He was an avid reader who loved music, computers, cooking and playing with his grandchildren. Besides his wife of 18 years, Mr. Earley is survived by two daughters, Cindy Andrews of Cheshire and Jacquelyn McGrath of Higganum; two sons-in-law, Paul Andrews and Shane McGrath; three brothers-in-law, Alfred Vignola, Frederick Langhoff, and Richard Mercugliano; two sisters-in-law, Julie Mercugliano and Josephine Langhoff; a niece, Lisa Mercugliano; and four grandchildren, Eric, Dylan, Leah, and Jake. Arrangements: A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 29, 2007 at 3:30 p.m. at The United Methodist Church of Cheshire, 205 Academy Rd. There are no calling hours and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. The Slater Funeral Home of Cheshire is assisting with arrangements. Memorial Contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church, 205 Academy Rd., Cheshire, CT 06410 or to the Yale New Haven Hospital Building Fund, 20 York St., New Haven, CT 06510. The world is a lonelier place without David. We will forever miss his charm, wit, sense of humor, dedicated effort in anything he undertook and his company. David was a unique soul who made everyone better for his companionship and friendship. We will miss him and share your sorrow. Perhaps in some small way, your knowing we grieve with you will comfort you and give you strength and God's peace as we know we will meet him in Heaven. Our sincere sympathy.
