RANDOLPH, David Truman
David Truman Randolph, 62, of Canton and West Barnet, VT, beloved husband for 39 years to Carol (Whitford) Randolph, died Friday, (May 18, 2012) peacefully from brain cancer. Born in New Britain, son of the late Truman and Elizabeth (Hansen) Randolph, he was raised there and graduated from Pulaski High School and later received his BS from UCONN. David and Carol met at a party thrown by mutual friends and quickly fell in love, spending the summers of their courtship as counselors at New Britain's Fresh Air Camp for underprivileged youth. David and Carol moved to Canton after their marriage and he was employed by UPS until 1995, when he was elected Business Agent for Teamsters Local 671, retiring in 2010. David loved the outdoors, especially time spent at Harvey's Lake in Vermont, fishing, and relaxing with his family and brown dog, Lucy. His legacy is one of positivity, kindness to and respect for others, and the lasting effects of an honorable life lived on all who cross one's path - a true inspiration to those who knew him. Besides his wife Carol, he leaves his children, Lisa, Brian, and Adam, their significant others, Sean Russell, Hannah Keefe, and Chaya Thanhauser, and dog Lucy. He was predeceased by his brother, Gary Randolph.
A Memorial Service to celebrate David's life will be Thursday, May 24, 11 a.m. at the Avon Congregational Church, 6 West Main Street, Avon. The Rev. Martha Chenault will officiate. Contributions may be made to the Avon Congregational Church, where David was a member for over 30 years, or to Harry and Helen Gray Cancer Center, 85 Retreat Ave., Hartford, CT 06106 as Hartford Hospital's care and treatment for David was exceptional and appreciated by his family. So sorry for your loss. I grew up with David. My sister and brothers have wonderful memories of him and Gary. I still was in contact with their mother until her death. She kept me up to date on the family and her wonderful grandchildren. My prayers are with you.

I'll never forget the great times fishing for Salmon at Chuck Searles's Rangley Lake cabin in Maine and the Red Sox/Yankees "Bantering" between Dave and his buddy Joe Perez!

I played with David and Gary as a child and throughout my life have referred to their mom as "Aunt Betty". Although we drifted apart and followed different paths, I will never forget the warmth and genuine caring David had for others. Even as a child I was inspired by David's kindness. RIP David!

My condolences to Dave's family!
A privilege to have known him and called him a friend ,and a brother.
We share little about work related things though most of our chats were about family and life. A man who will be missed by many.
Thoughts also for my fellow 671/UPS family who worked with Dave.
God Is Good! There is no fear in perfect love! God Is Love
