Donald Hartford Obituary

Donald (Dee) H. Hartford, Jr., 73, of Gilbertsville, PA, died peacefully Saturday, July 22, 2017, surrounded by his family at the Hospice House in Concord, NH. He was the cherished and beloved husband of 34 years to Barbara (Wall), loving father of Kenneth and William; devoted brother of Bruce (Donna Desrochers), Lance (Ronny Mosston), and sister Katharine (Rod Cook); son of the late Anne S. (Hastings) and Donald H. Hartford; a dearest uncle, a cherished cousin, a caring brother-in-law, and a good friend to many. Don was born in Washington, DC; graduated from Suffield Academy (CT) '64, and Norwich University (VT) '68, where he majored in English and excelled at soccer. He worked for Hartford Steam Boiler Insurance & Inspection Company (HSB), Hartford, CT for 42 ½ years in marketing and sales. He was an avid fly fisherman, hiked across England and most of the 4000' peaks, loved to cook, make wine, and was an excellent rug hooker. You have my deepest sympathy. I only recently learned of his passing. We were room mates at Suffield Academy but I regret that we lost touch with one another after that. Besides being an exceptional soccer and baseball player he was lots of fun (afraid we occasionally might have gotten into trouble together) and a solid friend! He left us way too early. sincerely sandy prouty

Sincerest condolences for your loss. Dee was a college friend and team-mate at Norwich University and his presence is missed.

I remember Dee well as we played Norwich soccer together. He was right fullback and I played left fullback. He was a joy to have on the team and Dee always had my back.
My condolences to you and your family.

To the family of Don,
I was a fellow employee of Don for many years at Hartford Steam Boiler in Hartford. With his last name being Hartford it was a triple H or home run. He was the best of guys, a hiking companion on a group effort up Mount Washington with two overnights. Lots of fun always!

He was transferred several time away from the home office during his long tenure at the company. I'm glad our paths crossed.
