Eileen McCarthy

1952 - 2016

Eileen (Pribyson) McCarthy, 63, of Glastonbury, beloved wife of John F. McCarthy III, peacefully passed away Friday, February 26, 2016 at Hartford Hospital with her family by her side. Eileen was born August 20, 1952 and raised in Hartford, one of five children to Joseph S. and Frances (Weizalis) Pribyson. She attended Hartford Schools, graduated from South Catholic High School Class of 1970. Eileen continued her education at A.I. Prince Tech and ultimately earned her nursing degree from Hartford Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed for many years as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Buckley Convalescent Home (now Ellis Manor) and was the first female EMT for Maple Hill Ambulance of Hartford. She resided in Hartford for many years, and then settled in Glastonbury in 1989. Eileen had a heart of gold and would assist anyone in need. Her greatest passion and joy was spending time with her family and taking care of others. She was vigorously active in the Glastonbury Youth and Family Service Summer plays. Along with her husband John, Eileen will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her loving family; two sons, Matthew McCarthy and his wife Pat, of Plano, TX, Brendan McCarthy of Dallas, TX; four daughters, Juliet Mohnkern and her husband Brett Schwartz, of San Diego, CA, Jessica McMahon and her wife Kyla of Cummington, MA, Laura McCarthy and her fiancé Steve Ha, of Washington, D.C. and Kimberly Ethier and her husband Andrew, of Glastonbury; twin brother David P. Pribyson of Glastonbury; sister Joan Flannery and her husband Jack, of East Hartford; three cherished grandchildren, Peyton, Alex and Josephine; as well as her extended family and numerous friends who considered Eileen their second mother. Along with her parents, Eileen was predeceased by a brother, LTC USAR (Ret.) Richard P. Pribyson and a sister, Mary Pribyson. Friends and relatives may pay their respects to Eileen's family Tuesday, March 1, 2016 from 4-7pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield. Funeral Procession from Farley-Sullivan will form at 9am, Wednesday, March 2, 2016, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Eileen's life at 10am in SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, 63 Popieluszko Ct, Hartford. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
