Frederick S. Thomas

Frederick S. Thomas, 91, of Hartford, beloved husband of Daphne Thomas, peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Hughes Health & Rehabilitation Center in West Hartford. Born in Manchester, Jamaica, W.I. to the late Rachel Ewen, he migrated to England and the United States over 60 years ago. He worked at The Veeder Root Company and later proudly owned Thomas's Dairy Mary in Hartford for over 30 years. Frederick was a faithful member of Christ Church Cathedral of Hartford for over 30 years, and a devoted and committed volunteer at Bloomfield Health Care Center in Bloomfield. Frederick was a loving, faithful, and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle who will be dearly missed. He is survived by sons, George Thomas of Jamaica, W.I., Gregory Thomas of Hartford; daughters, Angela Thomas Hardaway of Hartford, Eileen Craig and her husband Bunny of Bloomfield, and Yvonne Thomas of Jamaica, W.I.; a sister, Kathleen Cameron of Hartford; a brother, Sebert Williams of Jamaica, W.I.; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He also leaves a dear family friend, Coresia Turner. He was predeceased by his son, Andrew Thomas; sisters, Linnette Peart, Daphne Ewen, May Ewen, and a brother Ronald Ewen. His wake will be held on Friday, Jan. 13, 2017 from 4-8 p.m. in the chapel of Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor. His funeral will be held on Saturday, Jan. 14th at 9:30 a.m. at Christ Church Cathedral, 45 Church St., Hartford. Burial will follow in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
