Dear Dorothy and family;

I first met Parker over 40 years ago as a student at Springfield College and through his efforts I did my field work at the Bridgeport YMCA and later was hired as Community Program Director. I have spent 40 wonderful years as a YMCA Director and much of the credit for whatever success I have had during those years is a tribute to my first YMCA boss, Parker.

Thank you Parker, you will be missed.

TO THE LANSDALE FAMILY. DR. PARKER WAS A TRUE FRIEND WHO TOUCHED MANY YOUNG LIVES IN BRIDGEPORT AND BEYOND. HE WILL HOLD A VERY SPECIAL PLACE IN MY MEMORY AS A PERSONAL ENCOURGER WHILE I ATTENDED THE UNIVERSITY OF BRIGEPORT. HE WAS ALWAYS THERE WITH A KIND WORD OR A WAY FOR FUNDS TO BECOME AVAILABLE FOR BOOKS OR TUITION. HE TOUCHED MORE LIVES BY BEING AN EXAMPLE OF LIVING HIS FAITH. I THANK GOD FOR DR. PARKER LANDSDALE FOR OPENING DOORS THAT SEEMED IMPOSSIBLE TO OPEN. GOD BLESS YOU DR. LANSDALE. REST NOW, YOUR LABOR IS DONE MY GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT.

This truly wonderful man was in all respects my dad and I will forever feel grateful and blessed he and my mother came into one family and that I was fortunate to be able to share.

Dear Dorothy, Patty & Family,

Though the time I knew Parker was brief, I was grateful for that opportunity. In spite of his recent frequent need to be hospitalized, Parker's gentle spirit and positive attitude shone through. His greatest desire and concern was to be with his beloved Dorothy...

My sympathy is with your entire family for the deep loss you all must be experiencing.

Sincerely,

Marcia Goodman

When I moved from the Hartford area to Bridgeport in 1981 to begin my new position at what became The Bank Mart, bank president Dick Freeman introduced me to and put me under the wing of Parker to learn the City from Parker's unique perspective and the opportunities the nonprofit world there offered. Parker "placed me" for volunteer work with the nonprofits that were the best fit for what I could offer, and then he continued to stay in close touch. He quickly became, in effect, my Bridgeport guru, the person to whom I turned time and again for perspective and understanding. I have deep affection and respect for this remarkable man. I will miss him.

I was so sory to learn of Parker's passing. He was a great human being. During my time as Mayor he was always available to help with worthy causes and to dare to try new ideas. His work extended far beyond the YMCA to all avenues of the community. I so enjoyed when he came to my office to just talk because I always came away a better person. All of us are better people for having known him. My deep and sincere sympathy to his wife and all of his family.
