Isadore L. Sherman

Isadore L. Sherman, 90, of Hamden, formerly of West Hartford, died Monday, (October 6, 2003). He was the husband of the late Marcelle (Joseph) Sherman. He was a World War II Navy veteran. He was a past President of the West Hartford Regents, Past Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hebrew Home & Hospital, former Vice President of Jewish Children's service organizations; a member of the Greater Hartford Council, the Retail Trade Board, Chamber of Commerce, Level Lodge #137 A.F. & A.M. and very active with the YMCA of West Hartford. He was a former member of Congregation Beth Israel, West Hartford. He leaves a son, Gary J. Sherman and his wife, Rita of Scottsdale, AZ; granddaughters, Sydney and Marcy Sherman of Arizona; and a brother, Samuel Sherman of Brocton, MA; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his long time companion, Zelma Moss of North Haven and her family: David and Linda Levine of West Hartford; Sara Levy of West Hartford and David Levy of Philadelphia, PA; Sandy Gansberg and Michael Rosenblum; Amy and Erik DaRosa; and Michael Gansberg and Liz Conn, all of New York, NY. He was predeceased by his brother, George. He was loved and respected and will be remembered by all. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 8, at 10 a.m. in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford with Rabbi Howard Herman officiating. A memorial period will be observed at the home of David and Linda Levine, 250 Westmont, West Hartford, Wednesday following the funeral until 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hebrew Home and Hospital, 1 Abrahms Boulevard, West Hartford 06117 or a charity of the donors choice.
