John Brow Obituary



John "Jack" Brow, 82, of Vernon, loving husband of 61 years to Elizabeth (Petersen) Brow, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at home. Born in Rockville, the son of the late John and Irene (Morin) Brow, he was a lifelong resident of Vernon, and a diehard Red Sox fan. Prior to his retirement in 1984, Jack was vice president of New Britain Plumbing Supply for many years. He was a U. S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Jack was stationed at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Miss. He was an instructor to teach Morse code. He spent four years in the military. Jack enjoyed spending time with his family, and especially his grandchildren. He was a 50 year member of the American Legion Post #14, Vernon, and was bar committee chairman for many years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Gary Brow and his wife Sharon of Vernon, Cheryl McDonald and her husband Dennis of Tolland, and John "Jay" Brow and his wife Leanne of Ellington; five grandchildren, Corinne Keane and her husband Matt, Jesse Hildebrand, Stephanie, John and Carly Brow; three great grandchildren, Bella Keane, Alyssa Ouellette, and Lyla Silvestri; a sister, Gail Whittaker of East Hartford, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by his daughter, Cindy Brow (2011), and his sister, Eleanor Nixon. His family will receive friends for memorial calling hours on Saturday, January 4, 2014 from 10 - 12:30 P.M. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon. The calling hours will conclude with a prayer service and military honors. Burial will be private and at the convenience of his family.
