John Haley Obituary

John J Haley III, 51, of East Hartford passed away unexpectedly on August 1, 2017. Born in Hartford, August 7, 1965, son of the late John and AnnMarie Haley, he attended East Hartford High School and Manchester Community College. He relocated to Florida after college and worked construction; building high rises; as well as residential framing & roofing. He returned to Connecticut in 1993 and soon met the love of his life and started a family. In 2002 he was blessed with twin boys and in 2003 started his own business J.Haley & Sons LLC. He was a very proud father and an incredibly hard worker who never rested. John's world revolved around his family. His greatest joy was spending time with his two sons. Ice skating in the back yard, playing ball, riding motorcycles, fishing, boating and coaching many teams over the years. He was an incredible teacher, playmate, coach and loving dad to his boys. John coached youth hockey in Enfield and South Windsor from 2005 to 2016 as well as many Enfield Little League teams over the years. John was a passionate father, coach and friend who cheered for all the kids all the time, never missing a game and always keeping a positive outlook. He was very present in his sons' lives and felt passionately about passing down his strong values of respect, honor, courage and commitment. He was proud to drop everything to run over an extra pair of sneakers or forgotten skates to his sons at the rink. He was enjoying being a dad of teenagers; loving his new chauffeur role and renaming his truck "Snowball Cab Company", driving them to school, sports and other events they wanted to participate in. John had a love for life and was a true outdoorsman. He was an open water diver, sky diver, boater, fisherman, skier, swimmer, and avid sports fan of the Boston Bruins, Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. He enjoyed warm, summer days fishing at Uncle Tommy's camp, motorcycle charity rides and playing poker with the boys. He was also a loving primary care taker to his parents and uncle throughout very difficult terminal illnesses and a super hero to his sister. John was a giving, compassionate and generous man, always looking out for the underdog and stepping in to help strangers. He would give you the shirt off his back and literally the boots off his feet. He will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts. John is survived by his sons Dennis and Mason Haley and their mother Lynne Caldon. His sister and brother in-law Kathy and Rob Parker, nieces Allison and Katrina Parker of Ellington. His dear friend and co-worker Eric Poole. Along with many Aunts, Uncles, cousins and friends. A funeral mass will be held August 8, 2017, 10:30am at Our Lady of Peace, 370 May Rd. E.Htfd, 06118. With a reception lunch following at Mill on the River, 989 Ellington Rd, South Windsor, CT 06074.

So saddened by this news. The world is missing one caring, friendly, honest individual. John always had a smile for everyone and his nature was to help out his fellow man. I have so many good memories of him. One that is come to mind this morning is when he dropped everything to assist me. I am sure many others will have similar stories. Traveling to CT one time with my then under 5 daughter, due to pump relocations on the Thruway I accidentally put gas in my diesel car. (I know!). The car stoped running just off Rt 90 right at the Toll Booth. John helped with Triple A tow, got my vehicle to his driveway and rescheduled his work for the next day. We spent the morning into the afternoon multiple trips to the parts store, draining the fuel tank, lines, and fuel filters. During all that work he never complained that he had other things to be doing, never made me feel the fool, we laughed, joked and enjoyed each other's company. This was very typical of John. Great friend to all, always willing to lend a hand (with that fabulous smile!).
