Keith Carr, Sr was an Hartford Icon who selflessly served the community with honesty and tirelessly. His name should be on a street Albany Avenue or Blue Hills area as a sense of gratitude to a man who dedicated his ideals to create a better community especially for every west Indian in the greater Hartford area. Rest well in perpetual sleep Keith Carr. You must not be forgotten. (08 January 2020)

the years I served as executive director of the Connecticut Commission on the Arts (1966-1981) and of the Charter Oak Cultural Center (1992-1999) Keith Carr was a continuing source of my understaning of the cultural priorities of Hartford's Caribbean communities. He knew from his own life's experience
that the arts are an essential ingredient of community expression, liberation and growth, and, despite significant challenges, he stayed true to his belief that Hartford would only be a strong and compassionate city if the cultural
legacies of all its people could be respected and celebrated. He was a gentle ambassador. I will miss him.
With this message go my heartfelt sympathies to his family.

Many people wish to serve humanity in a manner that leave a positive lasting impression but very few live up to this high standard. However, we feel very proud that KEITH L. CARR SR.O.M. left us with such a legacy.
As we pause to give honor and thanksgiving for Mr. Carr's great service to this community, lets thank God for his spirit, his determination, his love for our West Indian culture & his willingness to share it with others; his courage, faithfulness and most of all his work to unify the people of Greater Hartford.
May the work he has done SPEAK FOR HIM.
May the life he lived SPEAK FOR HIM.
May the service he gave SPEAK FOR HIM.
Thank God for Keith L. Carr Sr. O.M. and his significant contributions to our community.

The old school guard of Jamacia here in Hartford continues to pass on and their legacy is a lasting part of the cultrual fabric of this state.
Mr Carr will truly be missed. I will miss talking with him while he would wait to catch the bus downtown.

We at the Connecticut Historical Society will miss Mr. Carr very much. It was his vision and passion that inspired us to work together on projects documenting the many contributions of greater Hartford's West Indian community. We can't thank him and his generation enough for making our city a more vibrant, caring place.
