Leah LaPointe

1944 - 2020

Leah LaPointe, 75, of Windham, CT died in peace on Sunday, March 29, 2020. She was born in Hartford, CT on July 29,1944 to the late Alice E. (Phillips) and James Burns. Leah attended school in Hartford, East Hartford and Wethersfield. She graduated from high school and went to work for the State Highway Department. She left work to be a stay at home mother to her three children. Later in her life Leah worked for Cox Cable in Manchester as a Customer Service Supervisor. Leah enjoyed family gatherings, trips to the casino, UCONN Woman's basketball and the Patriots. She especially loved her Friday night card games with her GB's. Leah was a member of the Women's Moose and a member of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Anne Wood Elderkin Chapter. Leah had two brothers, James "Bud" Burns (deceased) his wife Rabecca Burns, and Robert Lawrence Burns (deceased) his wife Marion Burns, and her sister, soul mate and best friend, Rosemary Klambt and her husband Gary Klambt. Leah was preceded by an infant sister Alice (Wimpy) Burns. Leah made her home of the last 17 years with her devoted daughter and son-in-law Patricia and Timothy Ellis of Windham, CT. Besides her daughter and son-in-law, she leaves two sons, Douglas LaPointe his wife Julie, Peter LaPointe and his wife Melinda. Three grandsons, Timothy J. Ellis (TJ), Edward D. LaPointe and his wife Kate and Tyler L. LaPointe, a very precious granddaughter, Allyson Lea Nielsen and her parents Darlene and Rene Nielsen. Leah was also the proudest of great gramma's to Ed's children, Addison, Jack and Liberty LaPointe. A celebration of Leah's life will be held at a later date.
