Matthew J. Powers

Matthew J. Powers, 21, of West Hartford, beloved son of Christine M. (Caffrey) Powers and the late Arthur J. Powers, died suddenly Wednesday, (December 18, 2002) at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center, Hartford after being struck by a motor vehicle in West Hartford. Matthew was born in Hartford and had resided in West Hartford all his life. He attended Conard High School, West Hartford and received his diploma in 1999, then attended Tunxis Community College, Farmington. Matthew was a communicant of St. Mark the Evangelist Church, West Hartford. He had been employed at Bazilians, West Hartford. In addition to his mother, Matthew is survived by his grandmother, Clair Caffrey of West Hartford; two aunts; two uncles and several cousins. Memorial visitation will be TODAY, 5-7 p.m. at the Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated, Saturday, 10 a.m. at St. Mark the Evangelist Church, 467 South Quaker Lane, West Hartford. It has been suggested for those who wish, donations in memory of Matthew be made to the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation, Inc., 103 Old Iron Ore Rd., Bloomfield, CT 06002.
