Michael Fedor Obituary
Michael M. Fedor, 90, of East Hartford, husband of his true love and best friend, Zobeide (Blais) Fedor, died Sunday, (October 12, 2003) as he wished at home. Born July 29, 1913, in Torrington, the son of the late Andrew Fedor and Mary (Pavliu) Fedor. As a young man he graduated high school from the Sacred Heart Academy in Torrington and then served in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC Camp), an emergency disaster relief program instituted in the mid 1930's by President Roosevelt. Upon completion of his duties he went to work at Hendee Manufacturing in Torrington. He married his bride on Decoration Day in 1940 and they moved to Hartford when he began work at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. Several year later they bought their home in East Hartford where they lived for many years. Michael became involved in his community by being an active Democrat, an early member of the Italian American Club and a generous supporter of both the new Y.M.C.A. and St. Rose School. He was an avid golfer and bowler on many local leagues. He will be remembered for his never-ending home improvement projects and as a devout Yankee fan. He found great joy in his later years in his role as "Popi" to his grandchildren. Besides his wife, he leaves to mourn his devoted daughter, Terri and her husband, Rick Francis of East Hartford, who provided comfort, care and humor during his final years. He also leaves his daughter, Michaeline MacDonald and her companion, Fred Johnson of Medford, MA, whose educational achievements made him quite proud. He was predeceased by a son, John Lewkowicz, who died as a firefighter while in the line of duty in Orlando, FL, in 1969. He also leaves his loving daughter-in-law, Patricia Lewkowicz Videtto of Orlando, FL. He was also predeceased by brothers Andrew, John and Julius and sisters Mary, Elizabeth and Agnes. He will remain in the hearts of his five loving grandchildren, Lauren Picard of East Hartford, Dr. Paul MacDonald of Ann Arbor, MI, Elizabeth MacDonald of Belmont, MA, John Lewkowicz and Colleen Gallagher of Orlando, FL; also nephews, Eugene Wolfe of Farmington, George R. Wisner of Deep River; and niece, Barbara Bursi of Dallas, TX. Relatives and friends may gather at the Newkirk and Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, on Wed., Oct. 15, at 9 a.m. for calling hours. The funeral will proceed at 10:15 a.m. to St. Rose Church, 33 Church St., East Hartford for a Mass of Christian Burial. The committal services will follow at Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford. The family would like to invite friends to celebrate Michael's life immediately afterward at Tastebuds, Main St., East Hartford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Rose School Fund or VNA Hospice.
