Paul Sherbacow Obituary

Paul Stephen Sherbacow, 80 of West Hartford, passed away peacefully with his beloved wife Kathy McDonald, on February 17, 2021. Paul was born on November 1, 1940, in Stamford, Connecticut to Beatrice (Wolfson) and Abraham Sherbacow as the middle of three brothers, Fred and Donald. Paul is survived by his sons, Todd (Diana) Sherbacow of Bethesda, MD and Bryan (Kelly Carr) of Charleston, SC. He was preceded in death by his beloved brother Donald, wife Roberta (Boone) and son Douglas. Paul was blessed with five grandchildren, Sydney, Sam and Saige of Orlando, FL, Hadley and Gigi of Charleston, SC and Jack of Bethesda, MD. Paul graduated from Stamford High School and went onto the University of Connecticut where he received both his bachelor's and law degree, graduating at the top of his class. A star student with a brilliant mind, Paul achieved great success early in his career, moving to Washington, DC in 1965 to work as a staff attorney for the Legal Aid Agency for the District of Columbia. He then worked as an advance aide in New York City to Senator Robert F. Kennedy's campaign for President. Paul returned to Connecticut in 1968 when he was appointed as an assistant United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut and finished his career in private practice in Hartford. Paul will be remembered for his gifted story telling with friends and family, in the court room and on canvas. He was a talented cook, gardener and fisherman who spent countless hours on the Farmington River and off the coasts of Connecticut and Rhode Island. I will miss my Uncle Paul terribly. We spoke often and it always started “hi sweetie, how are you?” We would talk politics, his paintings or the different bears that Kathy named coming up to his deck for food. Our conversations almost always ended the same...with his funny wit he would say, you’re the best present my brother ever gave me! I always believed him. RIP my special Uncle.

Kathy, I am so sorry to hear about your loss of Paul. He was a special friend to me and one of the few people I went to for advice and guidance. We would talk about anything and everything for hours. I will cherish the the painting I have on my living room wall of his brilliant work with a paintbrush.
Paul's voice, smile, sense of humor, strong opinions, wisdom, and talent will be greatly missed.
Godspeed Paul
