Robert KUBICK Obituary

KUBICK, Robert John Robert "Bob" John Kubick, 59, of Windsor Locks, died after a courageous battle with cancer. Bob was born in Hartford and graduated from Weaver High School. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He learned and excelled in several trades over the years, and was widely known as a man who could creatively fix any problem put before him. At the time of his death, Bob worked as Assistant Facility Manager for Connecticut Children's Medical Center (CCMC) in Hartford. Over the years, Bob worked several jobs in building operations in and around the Hartford area, but he treasured his work at CCMC most of all. He took immense pride in providing safe and secure building environments in a premiere medical facility devoted to helping children and their families. Moreover, he treasured his brotherly relationships with his supervisors, co-workers, and friends throughout the community. His children wish to recognize and thank Bob's wonderful colleagues from CMMC for their friendship and support over the years he was there. Bob also treasured his time with his longtime friends at The Army Navy Club in Manchester. Bob was preceded in death by his mother (Lorraine), father (Andrew), and sweet sister (Marie). He is survived by his wife, JoAnn, loving sons, Robert John Kubick, Jr. (wife, Michelle), Christopher Andrew Kubick (wife, Sharon), and devoted daughter, January Marie Kubick. Michelle and Sharon loved and treasured Bob as their own father from the time they met him. Bob is also survived by five grandchildren who all loved him dearly, Jonathan, Danny, Rachel, Rebecca, and Leah. Bob's children would like to thank and recognize their mother, Deborah, for her tireless caretaking of their father in his final days. Likewise, they wish to thank Bob's cousins ("sisters"), Barb, Patti, and Ann, for their support of Bob and the rest of the family. Bob's children also would like to thank his medical team, especially Dr. Tress, Dr. Siegel, and the amazing staff of the second floor of Hartford Hospital's Conklin Cancer Center. Bob was very moved by the outpouring of support for him and his family as he battled his illness. His family was thankful for the time that he had to say goodbye to his loved ones and leave this world in peace. Bob always dreamed of taking a journey on the high seas, with his sails fully open and the wind at his back. His family rejoices as he sails to the horizon to reunite with his loved ones at the hand of almighty God. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family on Thursday, May 12, from 4-8 p.m. at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks, CT, 06096. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 13, 2011, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 42 Spring St., Windsor Locks, CT. (Please meet at the church). Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Connecticut Children's Medical Center, 282 Washington St., Hartford, CT, 06106. My Thoughts and prayers to Bobs family,
I remember Bob when I was a kid and he was a great guy. His Father Andy was like family to me and my family.
They both worked with my family at Euclid Drug Store in Hartford.
Andy was very proud of Bob.
May G-d keep and bless Bob always.
