Robert Sullivan Obituary

Robert Joseph Sullivan, 93, passed away peacefully at his home in Cromwell on September 6, 2022. Born in Fitchburg, Massachusetts on March 14, 1929, he was the son of the late Jeremiah and Catherine (Garvey) Sullivan. A native of Fitchburg, Bob served in the Korean Conflict and was discharged from the Navy in 1952. He then joined Pratt and Whitney Aircraft as a sheet metal mechanic and worked his way up through the supervisory ranks. In the meantime, he attended the University of Hartford and earned his Bachelor of Science Degree. At the time of his retirement, Bob had reached the position of Plant Manager. Bob was an avid golfer and played on many golf leagues during his working years. After retirement, he continued the game of golf until April of this year. While not playing golf in his early years of retirement, Bob and his wife loved to travel throughout the country on mini vacations. His later years of retirement, Bob loved to sit by the water near his home in Naples, Florida. He liked watching the boat activity and feeling the sun on his face while listening to his "oldies" music and enjoying a cold can of Budweiser beer. Bob is survived by his son, Steven Sullivan of Amston; his daughter, Paula Daly and her husband William of Killingworth; five grandchildren, Danielle Sullivan, Wendy Nikitiades(George), William Daly, Jr., Tara Daly and Tom Daly (Amy); ten great grandchildren, Devin, Maddy, Teddi, Nicholas, Tyler, Cali, Emma, Conner, Carter and Anabelle. He is also survived by his caregiver Curtis Oppong whom Bob always called a gentleman; several nieces and nephews and their children and his four legged girlfriends, Mischief and Trouble. Along with his parents, Bob was predeceased by his wives, Eleanor (Lamkin) Sullivan and Eleanor (Riley) Sullivan; infant sister, Maryellen Sullivan and brother and sister-in-law, Jeremiah and Yolande Sullivan. Family and friends may call on Friday morning, September 9th from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Doolittle Funeral Home, 14 Old Church Street, Middletown. Burial will follow at 11:30 am in Indian Hill Cemetery, 383 Washington Street, Middletown.
