I have been thinking so much about Steve these last few days, and I decided to put one of my favorite quotes here in the guest book in honor and memory of him.
When I opened my desk to get it, the first thing I saw was a picture of Steve taken here in Hampton (March, '97)....he's smiling at me...so handsome, so warm; such a kind young man! I clearly remember taking the picture. Steve had come back to Hampton a little early from Spring Break and stayed a few days with us.

Hi Steve,
I can't believe that it's already been a year. I still clearly remember the last time I saw you when we were all laughing and joking around in the kitchen. I continue to think of all the fun times we used to have at grandma’s house and other family gatherings to help celebrate the wonderful person you were and what you mean to us. I know that everyone misses and loves you and wishes that you were still here even though we know you are in a better place. You are and will always be in our hearts and none of us will ever forget you.
Love Always Elith

It's hard to find the right words to say in time like these, but I would like to thank you all for the prayers that went up for the Walker-Grant family. Thanks to Pastor George Hancock and Soul Harvest Church members & friends of St. Cloud, Florida, Bishop Michael Coulson and Unity New Testament Church of God members & friends of Ft. Lauderdale Florida, The Cricket Hall of Fame & Sportsmen Athletic Club members & friends of Hartford Connecticut, The Barber Shop crew, Michael Roofing crew, Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity brothers and wives, Hampton University crew, Peoples Bank crew and all our friends and family for being there for us.
Steve touched a lot of lives while he was here on earth for 28 years, but he lived a great one and I am very proud of my son. Steve left with us that we can be whatever we want to be if we work hard enough at it. Steve left a “big shoe” for his baby brother to fill and I will make sure Sherman Jr. don’t forget who Steve was.
I could feel the force of prayers coming from all over. If you are reading this and don’t think prayer works, I am a living example, because only prayers and the Grace of God is caring me through this time of mourning. But you know my God is so Great that he never leave me alone, just when he sees that I need him more than ever he Baptist me with the Holy Ghost.
At this moment things look bad and it may seem no end in sight to the troubles that surround us each day and darkness night. Yet, like often has a way of turning things around, and the day once more will come when happiness will be found.
God Bless, you all and continue to pray for the family, it’s a healing process.
STEVE R.I.P. MOM WILL SEE YOU ONE DAY. LOVE AND KISSES MY BABY.

We love you and will NEVER forget you.

In Oct. of 2000, God sent me an angel with a big heart, bright smile, and beautiful personality. For the last 4 years(Oct. 2000 - NOW), Steve has been my other half, the love of my life, my angel, and my boyfriend. We have shared so many laughs, tears, and trips. We have met so many people, loved so many things, and wanted so much together. Steve has given me so much in life and has shown me so many different things that I can't even begin to describe what it is like to have to go on in life without him beside me. From Canada to Florida to Jamaica and everywhere in between Steve has taken me so many different places and shown me that life is diverse, happy, sad, profound, random, beautiful, and most recently, tragic.
As my role model he has taught me to believe in myself and to be the best at whatever I did or worked toward. As my best friend he has always been there for me no matter what I did or what I wanted to do. He always offered his total support for me even when I was indecisive. As my boyfriend he has been the absolute love of my life and the man that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.
I would like to thank his family and most importantly his mother, Rosemarie Walker-Grant, for accepting me as a part of Steve's life, for accepting the love that we share and will always share, and for accepting our commitment to each other.
Thank you also to the brothers of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. I love you guys! ALSHLON AND MARC I LOVE U! Thank you as well to everyone who supported me through this tragic time.
LASTLY, TO STEVE I WANT TO SAY THANK YOU FOR SHOWING ME WHAT TRUE LOVE REALLY IS! I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU AND WILL NEVER FORGET U NO MATTER WHAT. YOU ARE MY ANGEL AND WITH YOU I CAN NOW DREAM WITH THE REST OF THE ANGELS! MAY GOD BLESS U REST IN PEACE MY LOVE ALL IS WELL NOW! C YOU WHEN I GET THERE! SHYANNA & STEVE FOREVER!

Steve was a dear friend of mine who touched so many lives in his 28 years of life. Steve will be remembered for always helping others and sharing his joy with everyone he came in touch with. He was a man who worked to achieve his dreams and in doing so, would share his wealth of happiness with those close to him. From our years of youthful memories growing up in Windsor to our years of managing to stay in contact with each other as we developed our paths in life, Steve set his life course and accomplished what he set out to do. As my best friend, who is no longer with us, I know he will continue to shine upon my life, his loved ones and everyone who came in contact with Steve. I will continue to remember the moments Steve and I shared that will remain with me through my everlasting memories. Steve will always be in my heart and he will live on through not just myself, but all of us who know him so well.

Through family, Steve and I first linked when he came down to VA to go to Hampton. I can remember us initially laughing because our aunts were friends all the way in Texas, a place that neither of us lived; and that we were going to be friends here. He spent times at my house, weeks and weekends at a time. During those times, we (along with my younger brother) became very close and cool.
By him being from the Jamaican culture, he put me on to alot of things I did not know, and I did the same for his transition to my area. Coming out of high school, I was not really interested in going to a major university. Steve and I talked about it and he had a hand in my selection of Hampton.
When my mother and aunt called me yesterday to tell me of the accident, it is needless to say that I was in shock and I still am. Steve was like my "big bro" which was something I had never had before. Yet, everything happens for a reason, and this has to be part of The Plan.
So, with that being said...Rest In Peace, my peoples. You are still here, and I will catch you on the flip-side. One-Luv.

I know Steve from Windsor and from Hampton. I can see him doing his martial arts in Ogden Hall like it was yesterday (he was running for Mr. Hampton or something)!! Steve went after whatever he wanted, with no shame in his game!!! He was always smiling, always happy. There has never been a man with such an uplifting spirit. I can understand why God wanted him home with him - it's a pleasure to be in his company. Steve you will be more than missed but we thank God you're home now.

When Steve entered Hampton University, I became his "Virginia Mother" and he became "my third son". During his early years at Hampton, he spent several weekends with us, spring breaks, and even early returns to VA after Christmas Break. Even after his return to CT after graduation from HU, Steve always kept in contact. He would call on Mother's Day, or sometimes just to say hello. Whenever he returned to Hampton, he would come over to visit; and he even brought his girlfriend by once or twice. Over this period of almost 10 years, I saw Steve transform from a quiet teen into a fine young man. His Virginia family was also very proud of all of his accomplishments.
His mom told me she found my number amongst his things today, and that brought tears to my eyes. I have to agree with his aunt, Marlene, that obviously God needed Steve in Heaven more than we did here on earth, as I have no doubt whatsoever thats where he is now.
As I reflect on the memories of Steve, I note they are all good ones! I am confident that Steve touched so many people in his 28 years in such a positive manner.
My love for Steve will last forever within my heart. My thoughts and prayers are with the Wilson family. Please find comfort in knowing that Steve now rest in the arms of our Heavenly Father.
