Steven Shive Obituary

Steven G. Shive Sr, 57, of Manchester, formerly of East Hartford, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 1st. He was the beloved husband of Pamela (Pavan) Shive for 37 years. He was born in Hartford, the son of Rachel (Doyon) Shive and the late Peter T. Shive Sr. of East Hartford. Steven graduated from Penney High School in East Hartford and admirably served in the U.S. Army in the 82nd Airborne Division for four years. He attended the University of Hartford where he earned his degree in Business Administration. He had a successful career with the Travelers Insurance Company advancing to Director of National Accounts Property. Steven was highly respected for his strong work ethic and his ability to work well with everyone. Steven was blessed with a large and loving family. He is survived by his wife Pamela and his two children Steven Shive Jr. and his wife Ashley of Greenwich and Julie Shive and her husband Tom of East Hartford; and two grandchildren Ella and Evie. He also leaves behind five siblings; Daniel and Sue Roberts of Manchester, Susan and Jay Kopecki of Coventry, Barbara and Danny Mullins of West Hartford, Peter and Lisa Shive of Wethersfield, and Michelle Shive and Ed Hovan of Bolton as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. Steven's greatest joy was spending time with his family. He was an avid runner most of his life and completed the 100th Boston Marathon among many other races. Steven had a generous heart and loved to share stories. Although his health declined in recent years, Steven devoted his life to the Lord and found strength in his faith. Family and friends may call at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester on Sunday, August 6th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 7th at East Cemetery, Harrison St. Manchester. Steve was a very good friend to me when we were in High School and we were in our twenties. I moved to Fairfield County and we lost touch but I always have had wonderful memories of hanging out with Steve. He was a great guy. I am very sadden to hear about his passing

To Steve's family, please accept my heartfelt sympathy on Steve's passing. What a kind and gentle soul! I worked with Steve for many years at The Travelers and while his work ethic was second to none, his greatest joy in life was his family. We were all delighted with many wonderful stories over the years! I hope all your fond and loving memories will help ease your sadness in the days to come. May Steve rest in well-deserved peace and now you all have a very special Guardian Angel to watch over you. God Bless you all.
