Thomas Alferi Obituary

Thomas John Alferi, 30, of Cromwell and formerly of Colchester, beloved husband of Rebecca (Eselunas) Alferi, passed away at Hartford Hospital on January 13, 2017, with his family by his side. Tom was born in Hartford on April 2, 1986. He grew up in Colchester, playing youth sports since he was very young. Tom graduated from Bacon Academy with the class of 2004. He was well known as a talented athlete in many sports including baseball, basketball, and soccer. He continued his love of baseball with the Windsor recreation Men's Softball league and he also enjoyed golf. Tom continued his education, graduating from UCONN and later from the University of Southern NH with a Master Degree in Business Administration while employed as a Contracts Administrator for United Technologies. Tom was an avid sports fan. His favorite teams were the Red Sox and the NE Patriots. He will be remembered fondly for his beautiful smile, love of life and most importantly as an adoring, loving and devoted husband and father, son and brother, grandson and friend. He will be sadly missed but always remembered by his beloved wife of seven years. His precious daughter Leah Alferi and son Donovan Ingles; his father and step-mother, Thomas Alferi and Christine Sapula of Colchester; mother and step-father, Roberta Frick and John Wallen of West Hartford; sister, Anna Alferi of West Hartford; Nonnie, Theresa Alferi of Colchester; Parents-in-law, Linda and Donald Eselunas of Lebanon; brother-in-law, Jeremy Eselunas of Moodus; and numerous extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Salvatore J. Alferi and his maternal grandparents, Faye and Frederick Frick. Tom's family extends an invitation to all to join them for a memorial service on Friday, January 20th at 4:00 pm directly at the Federated Church, 60 Main St., Colchester. A celebration of life will follow at the St. Joseph's Polish Club in Colchester. Burial will be private. The family requests, in lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society and please, don't forget to donate blood. The Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home of Colchester has been entrusted with these arrangements. www.auroramccarthyfuneralhome.com

My sympathy for your loss. Tom and I worked together, and he helped me immensely from the moment I started working with him. He was smart and thorough, but also always good for a laugh. We miss him here.

Tom was a great guy, we grew up in the same small town and played recreational soccer together for years. When we were young he played goalie and everyone feared getting hit by the ball after one of his powerful kicks. One time one of those balls hit me right in the face! I'll never forget that or Tom, he was a good guy, never would have intentionally hurt anyone. When I picture him in my mind, I see him with a smile on his face...This is very sad news!
