Vincenzo Vitaliano Obituary

VITALIANO, Vincenzo Rocco Vincenzo Rocco "Vinnie" Vitaliano, 29, of Glastonbury beloved son of Rocco Vitaliano and the late Mary (Sliwa) Vitaliano passed away Monday, (September 6, 2004) into the loving embrace of his mother who predeceased him five years ago and our Lord, Jesus Christ. He was born August 16, 1975 in Hartford, which is an extra special day for our family. Not only is August 16 Vinnie's birthday but it is also St. Rocco's Day, the patron Saint of his father's hometown in Italy and the day his father came to America 50 years ago. Vinnie was raised in Wethersfield and Bolton and graduated from Bolton High School. He continued his education at Eastern Connecticut State University where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Communications. Throughout college he worked at Highland Park Market in Manchester where he made many close friends. The owners treated him like a family member due to his excellent service, which was always provided with a smile on his face. After graduation Vinnie found a job in his field of study at WTIC FOX 61 TV as a Master Control Operator where he was employed for the last six years. This was a dream job for Vinnie because he loved all types of media which was apparent by his ability to quote any line from movies like "The Godfather" and his favorite television shows. Vinnie was an avid New York Yankees fan who would attend games at Yankee Stadium whenever possible. If he couldn't make the game he would always have the game on either the television or the radio. Besides being survived by his loving father and his wife Filomena of Newington he is survived by his adoring grandparents Joseph and Genowefa Sliwa of Simsbury; his sister Regina Vitaliano of Newington, his sister and brother-in-law Teresa and Eric Vieweg of Wethersfield; his precious niece and nephew Lindsey and Lucas Vieweg of Wethersfield whom he doted on. He also leaves many aunts, uncles, cousins and other special family members and close friends. Vinnie was the most wonderful son, brother and uncle. We all love him very much and will miss him in our lives. We will think about him every day and cherish our special memories forever in our hearts. We take comfort in knowing he is celebrating eternal life with his late mother and our Lord, Jesus Christ. The funeral is Friday at 8:15 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Luke's Church, Hartford. Burial will be in Bolton Center Cemetery, Bolton. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home TODAY from 5-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 18 North Main St., West Hartford, CT 06107. I was thinking about you just a month ago when I was back home and driving down RT 85- I used to always see you walking there. You were a good kid and a genuine person- can't say it any better. A shame.....

I'll remember Vinnie's sense of humor more than anything. As quiet as he was, he could be extremely funny and he loved to laugh. I'll also remember his love of the Yankees, and his ability to come up with a 'Godfather' quote to fit any situation. I've been thinking of all the things we laughed about, and laughing again, but with sadness now. You were unique, Vinnie. I'll miss you.

I'm proud to say that Vinnie has been one of my best friends for well over 20yrs. I meet him around the 1st grade and ever since then we've been very close. I don't have to many memories of my childhood without Vinnie being in it. I remember when we were little running around his house in wethersfield in our socks so when we touched the walls we could see who got the bigger spark, or all the times we went to the park to play, or the countless times i ate dinner with him and his wonderful family. I'm glad we stayed friends for so many years even though there were so many miles between us. I never could imagine that i'd be writing this for Vinnie at such a young age, and i can't imagine my childhood without him. My deepest sympathies go out to his family and friends. I wish i could have seen him one more time.

He was truly one of a kind :-)

I wish his family the best. God bless.

Vinnie was a good friend to our son, Scott through the years. He was always smiling and had time to talk to us when we saw him even though we were "parents". He was a wonderful person and will surely be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult time. God Bless you, Vinnie!

Vinnie was such a great friend and co-worker. Everytime I was around Vinnie he always had a smile and was laughing. I don't think I ever heard him talk bad about anyone. It was an honor to be his friend and co-worker. Love ya Vinnie...God Bless you and your family. A person like you can never be forgotten.
