William Fitzpatrick Obituary

On October 27, 2020, Bill Fitzpatrick passed away in much the same way as he lived; courageously, at peace and surrounded by his loving family. A life of 86 years is impossible to capture in a few short paragraphs, especially a life as full and dynamic as his. Bill was known to his loving family and endearing friends and colleagues as a gentleman of highest integrity, smart, funny and with a zest for life. William F. Fitzpatrick was born on November 24, 1933 and lived in Windsor Locks, Connecticut, the son of William J. Fitzpatrick and Ida Ollari Fitzpatrick. He was predeceased by his first wife, Murial. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, IngerLise A. Fitzpatrick, and his three children of whom he was so proud and loved dearly: daughter, Kathleen Jubrey and husband Dennis of Vernon, CT; son, Kevin Fitzpatrick and his wife Anne of West Hartford, CT; daughter, Kelly Maloney and husband Henry of Mount Pleasant, SC. Grandpa also leaves his beloved grandchildren: Austin Jubrey and Chelsea Jubrey, Katelyn Barron and husband Paul, Shannon Fitzpatrick and her fiancée Tim St. Onge, Henry Maloney and Kate Maloney, and great-granddaughter Mialana Jubrey. He also leaves several special cousins. Bill was born, raised and educated in Windsor Locks, CT. He graduated from Windsor Locks High School and received his undergraduate and post graduate degrees from Western New England College. Bill worked at C. H. Dexter for his entire career of 47 years. During his years at Dexter, Bill was privileged to have known many wonderful people who he valued, mentored and treasured. Through his work he embraced the opportunity to travel the world meeting many people and leaders of different backgrounds and walks of life. Bill's life was a journey. In 1978, Bill and Lise built their dream home in Avon, CT and made numerous lifelong friends. In 2004, they chose to venture to Florida where they bought a home in beautiful Naples. There, they made many new friends who Bill entertained with his humor and stories. He never failed to have a captive audience. After nine years, Lise and Bill ventured once again to Lakewood Ranch, FL where they enjoyed the amenities of newly created town. Most recently, they relocated to Summerville, SC, to be near family and where Lise resides today. Due to the COVID-19 virus, a memorial service will be held in Connecticut, at a later date. One of the most influential people I knew in Windsor Locks that enabled me to be Executive Director of the Windsor Locks Housing Authoiry and Clerk of the Bd. of Finance in Town for years. Bill was such a likeable person and i am glad I knew him.

When I was 9 years we had Lise&Bill on visit and I was coming home from school and only Bill was home. My english wasn’t the best, but I managed to tell Bill that the Chicage Bull basketball cap he had bought for me earlier was gone. After Lise&Bill returned home to the US a new Chicage Bull cap arrived in our mailbox. This is my first memory of Uncle Bill and a good one. I shared this with Bill in March 2018 just after below picture was taken.

Line met Uncle Bill first time in 2006, and this was our first of many visits in the years to come. She remembers a very interesting, warm and young soul. A hip and cool uncle! We shared many interesting conversations and good talks! We went out for drinks and dancing and had such great times! Bill took Anders out watching a golf tournament.

Doctor Bill wear his famous doctor shirt and reading the morning newspaper. Allways up to date with the news picture.

In 2005, Bill helped Tomas&Anders when they wanted to contact a US company based in Orlando. Bill took the initial call and set up meeting which later resulted in an exclusive dealership for Scandinavia. This would not have been possible without Bill’s business skills. We shared conversations about his position at Dexter and his many travels around the world merging companies Dexter bought, and when they sent Mr. Bill, it was allways a smooth takeover with his brilliant democratic business skills.

Celebrating Kjell’s 60th birthday we’ve rented a condo in Fort Lauderdale and brought the whole clan to the US. Lise&Bill drove over from Naples and crashed in the laundry room a few days. We later drove to Naples and enjoyed some wonderful days in CasaFitzpatrick.

2014 Sarasota; First visit to your Sarasota home and Bill is also well into interior design!

2016; Our second Sarasota visit.

In 2018 we returned with Isabell (1,5y) after a week in Miami/Fort Lauderdale. I told Bill; to me you are exactly the same person as 12 years ago, still sharp with good questions & conversations, up-to-date with current news & sports and just a warm loving person! Isabell warmed up to him right away.

Special Uncle Bill!
It has been an honor to have known you and shared wonderful memories together! You will always have a special place in our hearts.

Love from Anders & Line

I worked for Bill at Dexters and knew Lise also. Bill was responsible for my working career as Executive Director of the Windsor Locks Housing Authority and for many years as Secretary to the Windsor Locks Bd. of Finance. I have always appreciated what he did that helped me during my working years and often thought of him and wondered how he was. I am so sorry that he is no longer with us and I know he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. My deep condolences to his family at this hard time.
