George Harry Taylor, Jr., aged 54 of Hattiesburg died Monday, July 18, 2016 at his residence. He owned and operated Anatomies Family Fitness Gym of Hattiesburg and was a member of Temple Baptist Church.
George was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Buckley Taylor; and grandparents, Amerigo and Ruby Fortenberry Nocenti, and Reverend Porter and
Erma Buckley. He is survived by his father, George Harry Taylor, Sr.; his sister, Harriet (Johnny)Fortenberry; and nephew, Taylor Fortenberry, all of Columbia; his aunts, Betty Burt Conrad of Kemah, TX and Marion Wilks of Columbia; his uncles,
Sidney Buckley of Easley, SC and Tim Buckley of Columbia; a cousin, Eric
Champagne of Kemah, TX; and a host other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 21, 2016 at 2:00pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 323 Second St in Columbia. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation was held Wednesday, July 20, 2016 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm at the funeral home.
Colonial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

My deepest sympathy to George's father and family. I only knew of George through his father, Harry, but know he was a good man like his Dad. I can truly feel for their loss as my only son passed away a few years ago.

George was a great guy and a good friend. He was my Sunday school teacher back when he was opening Anatomies in Starkville. He's the reason why I got my degree in fitness. I remember all his stories about the corvette and how much he loved that car. I haven't seen George in years, but he is one person I'll never forget, and I'll never forget the way he told a story.

Oh my heart hurts over the loss of this gentle, kind, and giving man. He was such an encouragement to me through a tough time in my life. He always greeted me with a smile on his face, and a genuine hug that made you feel special.
My prayers are with you during this sad time, but know he was loved by many and most of all George loved the Lord. He had a servants heart whenever there was a need, he was always ready to lend a helping hand.

My heart fell when I heard the news. He was a special person in my life for a while and I thought of him often throughout the years. I am so very sorry for your pain and pray God will comfort you all. I know how he loved his family.

I'm so sorry for the loss of George. He was always such a nice person all through out our school years always with a smile on his face. I can still hear him announcing the daily devotion and pledge alligiance every morning in high school. RIP and fly high my friend!

One of my earliest memories are of Harriet, George, myself and my siblings playing together at the old house in Goss. We must have been 5,6 or so. He was always the sweetest out of the bunch of us. Harriet and I were the bosses. He loved hide and seek, chase or any of the imaginary games we played. As we grew up, he never passed us without giving a big hug. I love him dearly and will always remember what a sweet, loving man he was. My deepest condolences for you all and much prayers for all in the coming days. I love you.
