John William "Johnnie" Land, 84

John William "Johnnie" Land, age 84, passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022 at Frankfort Regional Medical Center.
John was a member of the Eminence Baptist Church, but had attended Shelby Christian Church for the past 31 years. He loved the boys of summer, especially Little League and the Little League World Series. He enjoyed coaching ball, his red pickup trucks, gardening, his chickens, UK Men's Basketball and loved mowing the yard with his John Deere tractor. He was a five year Kentucky National Guard Veteran. In his early years, he worked for the Kentucky Utilities Company in Shelbyville. He retired from Kentucky State government, where he worked as an Electrical Utilities Inspector for the Public Service Commission for 16 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Evan Joseph and Elizabeth Corine Land; his sister, Katherine Joyce Reynolds; and his nephew, John Michael Reynolds.
John was born and lived most of his life in Eminence. The last six years, he lived in Shelbyville with his devoted wife of 22 years, Wanda Harley Land. Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Cindy Gail Stivers (Darren Hardin) of Frankfort; his son, John Christopher Land (Jennifer) of Shelbyville; his stepchildren, Becky Clark Gilpatrick (Jamie) of Shelbyville, Amanda Clark Wiley (Kyle) of Bagdad and John-Michael Clark (Kristyn) of Louisville; his sister, Bootie Payton (Doug) of Eminence; his brother, Joe W. Land (Charlotte) of Shelbyville; his special sister/cousin, Shirley Stivers Clark of Frankfort; his special cousins, Kenny Stivers of Bagdad and Jim Stivers of Elkton, Fla.; his 16 grandchildren, Brook Phelps (Aaron), Melissa Mercurio (Nick), Leslie Marie Stivers, Logan Land, Chloe Land, Avery Land, Hannah Yates, Sydney Yates, and Camryn Yates, Michael Gilpatrick, Sean Gilpatrick, Kara Wiley, Faith Wiley, Isabella Wiley, Layla Jane Clark and Asher Clark; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, 2022 at the Shannon Funeral Home in Shelbyville. Visitation is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Burial is at Grove Hill Cemetery.
