Rose Avera Obituary

Rose Avera of Pasadena, has passed away at age 74.

Rose was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on August 6, 1939. After living throughout the United States as a child, she moved to Pasadena, TX with her parents Lucy Neal and E. Allison Ingram and her sister, Claire Louise McMullen. She attended Pasadena High School and Rice University on a full scholastic scholarship.

Rose Ethel Ingram married Ronald Trent Avera on December 20, 1958. Together they raised four children - Joe, Jerry, Jamie, and Dorothy.

Rose was the owner of Allart Picture Framing, and, over more than 60 years, developed it into one of Houston's most respected services for artists, decorators, and designers. With her passing, a third generation of the family will continue that proud tradition.

A lifelong reader, amateur historian, and learner, Rose was never without a book and delighted in intellectual and philosophical discussions and debate. Her passion and interest in European art and history led her to travel to England, France, Belgium, and Italy with both her children and grandchildren, where she explored both museums and historical sites.

Rose was preceded in death by the love of her life, Ron Avera. She is survived by her sister Claire, a loving family of children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends who will long remember her loving manner, sharp wit, intellectual depth, and deep devotion to her family and friends.

A private commemoration will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National MS Society, American Cancer Society, or the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America.

Rose was one of the few people I knew in my two years at PHS and the last classmate I talked to before I left Pasadena forever. One of the brightest people I've ever met. So sorry for your loss...

Rose was my friend and I loved her. She was a smart lady and always had interesting things to say. She will be missed by everyone in PHS. Me especially.
