Barbara Chaney Obituary
BARBARA HANDLEY CHANEY, 84, of Culloden, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 21, 2024, at her residence. She was born March 20, 1940, in Charleston, W.Va., a daughter of the late Earl and Grace White Handley. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Joe Franklin Chaney; brothers Clyde Handley, Earl Dennis Handley and Jack Handley; and by one sister, Francis Blake Adams. She is survived by two daughters, Janice Basham and JoAnn Chaney; one son, John Chaney and wife Paula Harbour Chaney; one brother, Carl Handley; four grandchildren, Jordan H. Chaney, Camille Basham, Jessica Thompson and Jasmin Hickman; seven great-grandchildren, Curtis Chaney, C.J. Basham, Jlyn Geiger, Cole Thompson, Alexis Thompson, Gracelyn Thompson and Lily Ranson; and one great- great-grandchild, Camerion Basham. At her request, she will be cremated. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Culloden Cemetery. A fellowship service will follow at Hurricane Baptist Church. Barbara was a distant cousin, her mother and father were my great aunt and uncle. Have a lot of great memories growing up and spending time at her house. Very sorry to hear of her passing.
