JULIE DONAHOE Obituary

JULIE DONAHOE, 48, of Barboursville, W.Va., went to be with her Lord on Sunday, July 23, 2017, with her family and friends by her side. There will be a celebration of her life 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 27, 2017, at Beard Mortuary. Her family will receive friends after 4 p.m. She was born April 13, 1969, the daughter of Dr. Don Donahoe and Sue Dillon Donahoe of Barboursville, formerly of Logan, W.Va. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Chambers. She was a graduate of Logan High School and Huntington School of Beauty Culture. She was the owner of Karma Salon and has been a hairdresser for more than 20 years. Julie lived by example the motto, "Be peaceful, loving and kind," and encouraged others to do the same. She fought hard during her battle with cancer and never let the disease discourage her from helping others; she would say, "Living is giving" and proved this to people by having backpack and coat drives every year for the needy. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her loving family, her wife who she adored, Catherine L. Donahoe; her two children who were her greatest gift and all she ever dreamed of having, London Darby Donahoe and Brinkley Catherine Donahoe; she is also survived by her sweet sisters, Susie Chambers of Barboursville and Donna Midkiff of South Point, Ohio; a loving brother and sister-in-law, Schoch and Lara Donahoe of Huntington, W.Va.; her very special nieces and nephews, Caleb, Chance, Jesse and Maggie; a best friend for over 20 years who has been by her side, Micki Woods of Huntington; and a host of extended family, special friends and clients whom she held very dear to her heart. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to London and Brinkley's education fund at First Sentry Bank in their name. Online condolences may be sent to www.beardmortuary.com.

I went to a Melissa Etheridge concert at the Paramount in Ashland KY. I greatly enjoyed the concert until the end . It was time to leave , I was walking alone to my car . All of a sudden I looked up and saw this beautiful woman with eyes that cut me straight to my soul & a smile that could light up the whole world. Her spirit so beautiful. She looked at me . That moment was so profound. She made such an impact in my life at that one moment .
I was trying to make sense of it all . Did I know her from somewhere? Well, I just couldn't figure it out . As time went on . One day I was on FB and there she was that lady with the beautiful smile . She was a family member to one or two of my friends . Wow , realizing she used to live in Logan and Graduated from Logan High. So did I . Her dad use to be my doctor. My son gave care to her father . No, I didn't know Julie but I should have . We were connected in so many different ways. I just wanted to share this story to say Julie touched people and didn't even realize it. She touched me just with her smile. My condolences to her loved ones .

There isn't a word that can truly articulate how wonderfully amazing caring loving full of life this woman she was. I loved her to death she was an inspiration she was a joy to be around her personality was infectious. The world lost a bright light. I pray I can be half the woman she was.

I remember first meeting Julie in beauty school. She was the laughing girl with the wild hair and black leather jacket whom everyone loved. I worked with her later for a short time and she still had that hair and that laugh. This world is poorer without her. Even though it's heartbreaking she is gone, she's with her Jesus.
