MILDRED SIMMONS "COOKIE" MEADOWS

1921 - 2015

MILDRED "COOKIE" SIMMONS MEADOWS, 93, formerly of Charleston, W.Va., died Monday, April 27, 2015, at Heartland of Riverview, leaving behind countless family and friends who cherished her. Born November 7, 1921, in Gandeeville, W.Va., she was the daughter of Elbert and Ella Cook. In addition to her parents, "Cookie" was preceded in death by her husbands Charles H. Simmons and Gordan Meadows and precious granddaughter Mary Beth Simmons. "Cookie" is survived by two sons, Charles (Mary) Simmons of Midlothian, Va., and Dick (Carol) Simmons of Huntington, W.Va.; granddaughters Meredith (Jeff) Mullin of North Chesterfield, Va., Mallory (Eddie) McIvor of Gainesville, Va.; Kara Simmons of Sumter, S.C., and her only grandson, Adam Simmons of Huntington, W.Va. Funeral services will be 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Reger Funeral Home, Huntington, W.Va., with Rev. Steve Engle officiating. Visitation one hour prior to service. Committal service will be conducted on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at the Weston Masonic Cemetery, Weston, W.Va. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Alzheimer's Association, 1601 2nd Ave., Charleston, WV 25387, as she fought her battle with Dementia with great strength and determination.
