Julia Ann "Judi" Barton Meadows, 81, of
Dundee, Florida, passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, February 11, 2026, surrounded by her beloved family in their home. Judi was born on May 20, 1944, to Lucious Lonzo Barton (born 1926, Ft. Myers, Florida) and Alicia Nieto-Serrano Barton (born 1924, Havana, Cuba). She graduated with honors from Auburndale High School and was awarded a full scholarship to the School of Nursing at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida. In 1964, she married the love of her life, Waymon Ellis Meadows of Auburndale. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Together, Waymon and Judi built a life centered on faith, devotion, family, and hard work. Their union was blessed with ten children and nearly 40 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom was-and remains-deeply loved and cherished. Judi devoted her life to serving God, her church, and her community. She served faithfully in many capacities, most often working closely with the youth and strengthening the women of the Church. She was passionate about mentoring young people, helping them grow in faith, character, and confidence. Judi led by example, living a life dedicated to her Heavenly Father and to selfless service. She loved camping and organizing gatherings, finding joy in the creative process of bringing events to life. A natural collaborator and excellent listener, Judi had the rare gift of turning ideas into meaningful experiences. She enjoyed knitting, cooking, and especially celebrating the holidays, which she made magical for her family year after year. She was also one of the most devoted fans of the Florida Gators football team-game days were sacred in her home. "Go Gators!" Above all, Judi was simply "Mom" every day of her life. It must be said that Judi was a master storyteller. She loved listening to and telling stories, carefully crafting each one with vivid detail and rich context and delivering them with impeccable timing. Her comedic IQ and delivery will be measured well and highly rated by history. She valued tradition, good manners, and history, instilling those principles deeply in her children. Her influence will continue for generations through the values she lived and taught. Judi is survived by her devoted husband, Waymon Meadows; her children, Jamie Ann Valentine, Jenny Sue Meadows, Kevin Lee Meadows, Steven Lee Meadows, Jana Lynn Meadows, John David Meadows, Spencer David Meadows, Joseph Franklin Meadows, Jill Christina Connallon, and the baby of the family, their beloved Joanna Leigh Meadows; along with her many treasured grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, strength, and unwavering love. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Lastly, she would want everyone to know that Christ lives and that you are loved. She would testify that Christ willingly sacrificed Himself because of His great love for each of us. She would urge you never to lose hope and to remain steadfast in the belief that change is possible. She would bear witness that our Father in Heaven knows and loves every one of His children and that His promises are sure. It is by Christ and through Christ that we are redeemed-therefore, take heart.
