The last stanza of one of her published works reads as follows. "When I die, don't send me roses because I am now the dirt, I am the plant, I am the seed that sits in the crook of your skull, always reminding you what it's like to call a place home."

You are greatly missed, but I do not cry for you. I cry for all of us left behind to traverse this world without your warm heart and caring spirit in it. You made this world better by being in it.

I met you at your final MFA residency - we were dorm room neighbors - and again at a Wilco concert. You were gracious and engaging when we spoke, and I'm glad we shared many interests. When I heard of your passing, I kept thinking of your ceremony reading and how touched I was by your talent. I genuinely hope you are an Appalachian ghost who haunts the halls, just like your written work, forever dreamy.
