William Long Obituary
WILLIAM ROLLA LONG JR., 81, of Huntington, WV, passed away August 6, 2024. He was born January 15, 1943, in Huntington, WV, to parents William R. Long and Jane Downs Long. Bill grew up in Logan, WV, graduating from Logan High School in 1961 and then from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va. He was a longtime employee of C.I. Whitten Transfer as well as Pyramid Marble. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents Wilbur and Ethel Yaple Long and Earl and Freda Weigel Downs as well as his wives, Cheryle Yahn Long and Vickie Blevins Long. He is survived by his son William R. Long III and his wife Michele and their children William R. Long IV (and his fiancé Salem), Ian Brady Long and his son Sampson, daughter Marian Christian "Christy" Long Gue and her husband Michael and their two sons, Jasper Michael Gue and Cameron Jacob Gue and his wife Emily; stepdaughter Sheri Grim Ortkiese and her husband David as well as their children, Zoe, Ava, Mia, Jude and Joshua; stepson Paige Haley; sister Jill Long Ross and her children Rosa and Elisabeth; two brothers-in-law, George and David Jorgenson; special family member Ritchie Blevins and his wife Judy; as well as many cousins and friends. Visitation will be from 12 to 1 p.m. Saturday, August 24, 2024, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, with service following at 1 p.m. with Rev. Doug Pendleton presiding. Entombment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Huntington. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/wallace.
